So I got a little bit of liquid in a new 510 auto. I know you shouldn't drip while using them and I wasn't, I actually pulled some chili pepper juice through the bottom of it while I vaped umm... out of a chili pepper.. Don't ask, it was for a contest here on ECF  So after it died from the LED firing I let it sit overnight and tried charging it up. It charged normally but it just doesn't work anymore. When I remove it from the charger the LED blinks 3 times.. Any ideas? Anything I can do?

One thing you can try is hanging it so the connector is pointing down with a piece of paper towel stuffed loosely in the connector to absorb the juice..you also can twist a piece of paper towel and stick it in the little hole..I used a paper clip I bent around an old 510 battery to get the shape then I squeezed it a little so it would grip the battery and used it to hang the battery.

If that doesn't work and you have tried everything else pouring a little 91% rubbing alcohol in the connector and drying it by hanging it has saved a battery for me before..but use at your own risk as it could ruin it completely or damage things..also even after drying I would be careful of the battery for awhile.

When My auto Died, I was a Little More Agressive.

I soaked it in 91% Rubbing Alcohol for about 20 minutes shaking it in the Pan and out in the Sink every 5 Minutes or so. Then I let it sit in a Sunny Window for 3 Days.

It did bring it Back to Life.

But. As Mentioned. I would Only do this as a Last Resort.

Another thing you can do so you don't have to soak the battery in alcohol is use a syringe to inject it in the hole then turn it upside down.

I have a bunch of 3ml syringes I bought at CVS awhile ago for a few bucks I use for filling CE2's..I also used some to repair the old style CE2 clearomizers by cutting them and using the syringe tube to replace cracked CE2 tubes because..the old ones had cracking issues.

Thanks for the tips guys, I popped the end cap off last night and sucked as much liquid out as I could (not much) but it still continued to fire. Im going to let it sit and continue to air dry till tomorrow. If its still dead I will try the ISO bath. I wouldn't think that the juice I got in there would be corrosive so Im hoping it just needs to dry some more. But if not you guys gave me one more idea I didn't have before. Thanks again!

It isn't so much that e-Liquids are Corrosive, it's that they can gum up the air value inside an Auto Battery.

Water can do the same type of fix we are talking about. But will not dry out as well as 91% Rubbing Alcohol inside a Battery

It wasn't e-liquid mind you it was juice from an actual chili pepper.

Ok so an update, I ended up tossing it in an ISO bath since it wouldn't do anything. It started firing while in the ISO so it took that as a good thing. I let it dry and I believe the problem now is that the small airways that allow air to move and the switch to function is gunked up. It will work sort of if I blow extremely hard and you can tell a difference in resistance when blowing through another 510 auto. As always I appreciate the help.

Try sucking and blowing rapidly into it..it could loosen up the diaphragm (it's like a little rubber drum in the switch of a lot of auto batteries..when you suck this "drum" pulls down and makes an electrical contact). When I had one that was messed up I found doing that then sucking or blowing lightly (one or the other as I believe this put's the "drum" in the right postition to work) into it right after it would make it work awhile. I think on that one the diaphragm is worn though...

Success, kind of.. The battery works as it should when I'm pulling directly on it but it takes to much suction for it to work while attached to an atty/carto. You have to draw on it very sharply or cover the vent holes where the atty and battery connect. I'm bummed so close yet so far away.. that and it still tastes like ISO when you pull through it.

Don't see that it is going to hurt much to do second soak.

BTW - Did you pull the plastic "Ash Cap" off the end before soaking?

Ya I pulled the LED cap off and left it off through drying. I may try soaking it again and this time using a syringe to spray some ISO over the switch and membrane if I don't get any other advice. Its like something is gumming up the movement of the switch a tiny bit and it takes just a little to much pressure to operate it.

I will keep it in a parts bin if all fails it just sucks losing a brand new battery to my idiocy.

Yeah, give it a shot.

But if it doesn't work, or only works 1/2 the time, it wasn't a huge lose.

'note to self... don't vape veggies whilst using auto batts' rofl This thread definitely gave me a chuckle, though. Thanks for that.

Glad I could help someone. The batt is still in its last reported condition, I have been meaning to take a syringe with ISO and force some in there to possibly clear a blocked airway but I have been busy and its just been sitting there. I will update when I get around to trying to resuscitate this thing.
