I was having the same issue. I ended building my own coils (which is very easy) and using cotton for the wick. Since then, I have no issues with dry burning or flooding. In fact, they are better than they were new and the flavor is much better now thanks to the cotton.

I used this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/396220-kanger-protank-rebuild.html as a guide and watch a few videos online using the cotton. As you can see from the recent posts, this was something I just learned to do and I have no regrets now.

Good luck!

hi vapers, for the past 3 months i've been expirencing the same gurgling leaking all the above on my 4 protank 2s. the only thing i can think of that i've found that is different is that kanger made the coils for one fit all tanks. i also have like 4boxes of these as my backups. today i received 4 new bases from smoke-evolution for about $3to$4 bucks to try. i just installed 1 on the protank 2, and so far i've been vaping on it with 1 of my mvpv2s and went through a full tank, filled again still no gurgling no leaking at all. so it appears that it was the new base that has fixed it. it now performs like it use to. another thing is that i don't screw the tank all the way on my battery or mod tight any more. hopefully i have resolved all my protank2 problems. i hope this helps you all aswell. now let me go play with my new kanger protank dual coil aerotank,lol. sorry for rambling, keep on vaping everyone.

:mad:

I've been suffering serious quality control issues with my Kanger pro tank atomizers recently, for the last three weeks to a month.

I'm buying these: Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement - 5 Pack 2.5 ohms

I don't understand the issue. I've been vaping on these things for months with my pro tanks, but in the last three batches (15 atomizers total), I've had to throw out pretty much every other atty for it dry wicking or burning, and not wicking even when filled and left to sit overnight. Even the ones that work have a shorter lifespan. Where I used to be able to use one for two to three weeks, I'm now only getting three to ten days out of them even when they work.

I don't know what's changed with quality control, but I'm frustrated and disappointed. As I said, I've been using them for months, more than half a year with no complaints, and suddenly I'm getting ....ty batches of attys that are leaving a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively.

Anybody else been having this issue?

I've been hearing things like that recently.

If you're throwing away atomizers at that rate, might as well go carto

I have a Protank II and can't seem to get rid of the slightly burnt taste. Can't run it above 6 watts (on a 2.2 ohm coil) or it gets very burnt. My stardusts are good up to 7.5 or 8 watts on a 2.4 or so ohm coil. Tried removing flavour wicks to no avail and flipped the rubber stopper upside-down as some suggested but no fix yet. So I guess I'm having the problem too. It's a weird issue. I'd love it to be fixed because I love the look and build quality of the Protank. I don't think it is an airflow problem in my case because I get a very loose draw on it, not a tight one like if the airflow was blocked. Don't know for sure though.

Sounds like you may have burnt the grommet a bit. I did this on one of my attys and it was terrible. I rebuild all my coils and what happened was it was too hot and burned the rubber grommet. If the coil sits to low/close to the rubber grommet this can happen. I pay close attention to how high or low the coil sits. Also, if it sits to high it can interfere with the air flow. This is from experience. I have been building vertical coils lately and really like the way they have performed.

Are you using just straight Kanthal?

Since the ends of the coil wire are going from a pressed conductor-to-rubbergrommet connection and not a metal screw or clamp connection, you need to get those prefab NR-R-NR coils, and install them. The NR nonresistive sections would contact with the grommet;

If you are using straight all kanthal resistive wire, it means the whole wire gets hot, and therefore you are vaping grommet plus eliquid.

saw a link somewhere to a place selling replacement grommets too; thnk it was kidney puncher

I think its great that you guys have the fixes figured out! Though, what ever happened to stuff working RIGHT, straight from the factory? I'd get on Kanger for replacements for those having issues. They have been the leader of clearo type toppers for the longest. Maybe if enough people complain, they will do something about it.
