Congrats on a nice mod. I've been waiting for my GLV3 for a few weeks now so I know what it's like. This is a hobby that happens to be healthy and gets us off analogs. As long as $300.00 isn't taking food off the table or leave you short for rent etc. etc. Have fun and enjoy life while you can. Maybe I can talk the girlfriend into one of those when she tries to quit smoking. Good luck with it and have fun.

To the best of my knowledge, the Darwin, ProVari and Eclipse eq are the only three mods to date that have regulated power output as well as variable voltage. (If I'm wrong about that, please let me know.)

---

I've mentioned before why I don't care for the Darwin, and why I love my ProVari.

But the Eclipse eq is unique, in that it is presently the only juice-feeding PV with regulated power output, as well as variable voltage, short circuit protection and all those other good things. With that in mind, I think the Eclipse eq could end up being a great alternative to the ProVari, albeit one that targets a different group of vapers. Like I'm not into juice-fed anything. I vape exclusively with Boge cartomizers, and I really prefer & trust the process of manually filling my cartos. I just don't want a juice-fed PV.

But plenty of people do want that option. For them...the juice-fed thing may be a key feature. And it's for those people that the Eclipse eq was born.

As beautiful as a wooden Ali'i may look & feel...it's yesterday's news, technologically. The Ali'i doesn't have regulated power output, its "variable voltage" version offers a max of three settings, which each inconveniently require a different battery setup. And if you want anything other than 3.7v, you need to use two batteries. One-battery devices like the ProVari & Eclipse eq are always safer. (I haven't been able to determine if the Ali'i has short-circuit protection or not: does it? One person on ECF said it does...but I couldn't find any mention of such on R&R Manufacturing's site, or anywhere else.)

I still have some quibbles with the Eclipse eq. It's made of aluminum...while the ProVari is more durable, being made of stainless steel. The Eclipse eq offers less voltage settings, 4.0 to 6.0...while the ProVari offers 3.3 to 6.0. The Eclipse eq presently costs about $100 more than the ProVari. And as slick & neato-looking as the Eclipse eq is...I prefer the look & feel of the ProVari, which is purely subjective of course.

Of course, the most prudent course of action would be to wait for actual Eclipse eq reviews. I assume based on the specs that it'll be pretty good...but the reviews will tell. That aside, if I had to recommend a high-end PV today, it would definitely come down to the ProVari or the Eclipse eq, depending on the person's vaping style. Everything else at the present time is just not as good, comparatively. With the ProVari, I know that first-hand. With the Eclipse eq, I'm going by the specs & assuming it'll live up to 'em.

And the Darwin gets my anti-recommendation - it doesn't even have a juice well. Seriously.

I must point out though, that just like eVolv has done with the Darwin, DigitalCiggz has dropped the ball in refusing to accept Eclipse eq orders outside of the States. I don't know what the goal is there. Are they trying to build up a mystique around it? Generate "rarity" envy?

If not, they need to reverse that policy ASAP, or find a Canadian vendor - & a UK vendor too - to act as their official distributors there. Otherwise they could see Canadian & UK vapers who might have bought one (but can't or won't go through a bunch of hassle trying to quasi-smuggle one in) opting to go with a more accessible juice-fed mod...or saying "screw this, I'll get a ProVari instead."

The ProVari is still the only one-battery PV with regulated power output, short circuit protection, variable voltage and lots of other goodies, that Canadians & Brits can order quickly & easily from the States.

---

Anyway...like everyone else here, I'm looking forward to seeing people's reviews of the Eclipse eq. All the best, and happy vaping everyone!

are you talking about "regulated" power; meaning true voltage, boosted as the battery voltage diminishes with discharge rate? Because as far as I know there are only 3 PV's that do that now; actually 4 including the Infinity...
Darwin, Provari, Buzz, Infinity...
no im not the bloog is regulated at 3.6 v unlike a normal kr808 which is what makes it good ,
and an ali'i is mos definately regulated aswell as protected , and from what i can see the eclipse has no wattage setting , so please where am i wrong

rachelcoffe; take a look at the Pro Series coming out within a week... the Buzz and Infinity were the first to have regulated (buck boost) variable power, and the new Pro series will have an adjustable wheel and improved materials (the Buzz and Infinity needed a screw driver to adjust). That's why I like my ego booster as an affordable VV alternative. Simplicity, and for me, a way to use my dusty ol' eGo batts

i gaurentee that the bloog mf is regulated , it fires at 3.6 untill its ready to die , the oldstyle kr 808 strarts at 4.2 and as you use it the voltage drops , as for the ali'i here is a quote from the guy who makes them on the rnr thread ,

One quick note on HV atomizers, we just had a customer that burned up two regulators due to a incompatible atomizer, once I am able to validate this I will post it up on our site. The customer said they were HV atomizers from Ken's Box Mods, I do not see this particular atomizer on his site, so I will try and verify this when I can. The atomizer appears to be a Trueman atomizer, but I still need to validate this since I do not see a HV variant on his site. It was a 3.5ohm atomizer. Other HV attys work fine, but this one seems to have issue fitting over the feed tube which causes shorts. If anyone has information on Trueman 3.5ohm attys, shoot me a PM.

so as you see i am right , the ali'i does use a regulator and if u look into it a bit deeper u will see im right about the bloog max fusion also

all in all i guess what im trying to say is na na na boo boo .... im right

"regulator"... is not the same... i think he is talking about "regulator" like the "terminator" that will hold a voltage down; i.e. if you have stacked batts, which give you 6 or 7 volts, the "regulator" is like a control that narrows the voltage to say 5v....
no way as state of the art as a chip that "regulates" the power as the battery discharges and loses voltage, to monitor it to give true voltage as variably selected.... NOT even close.

Apologies for kinda bringing this thread back on topic, but does anyone know how hard it is to open up the feeding system and clean/replace tubes ect... Like general maintenance and for switching juice flavors?

Does anyone on this thread actually have one of these yet?

Yes Chinner I would like to know also. A lot of talk about a PV that has taken way to long to get to market. Site still says "coming soon" but then so is Santa! The gestation period of an elephant is shorter than the wait time for this thing to hit the streets. I will sit this one out and see what others say when they finally do ship. The real proof of concept will be to see how the production units hold up with real use.
