Hi All -

I was a huge menthol smoker and am finding it hard to find a flavor I like - I've tried loads to based on the reviews (Backwoods, Heathers, Mr. e-liquids, Smokeless Image) - but I like the tobacco flavors from some of these vendors.

I was wondering where I can buy some menthol to just add directly to the premade flavor, how much to add and really if that is possible to do -

Thanks...Super

I agree that the flavor concentrates are quite strong. You can get TFA flavors from My Freedom Smokes or One Stop DIY (not affiliated..just a customer). A couple of drops go a long way. If it's just the "cooling" effect you are after...giving an icy jolt to a flavor but not changing it at all use Koolada. VERY strong stuff. I make my DIY juice in 60 ml. batches...I prefer a strong menthol...too strong for many people. I only use 3ml. menthol concentrate to 60ml. and add only 9 drops of Koolada for the icy blast. That gives you an idea how strong it is.

If you're into camel menthol, I tried and loved Vaporkings 24mg. A little chemically and only sold in 10ml bottles, but I'd think it'd blend good with another flavor. Probably about 3 drops to a 1ml container of another juice depending on how strong of menthol flavor you want. (By camel menthol, I meant with the bead popped in the filter for the tingly icy menthol feeling).

Prior to DIY, I used Ice ICE ("extra" flavor) from VD (peppermint/spearmint flavored menthol) to enhance tobacco/fruity/minty flavor eliquids and enjoyed the results. Start with 1-2 drops per 3ml of eliquid and add more if desired.

Use DIY flavors to mentholate any eliquid (WL Flavor Labfor small quantities):
TPA 10% menthol - start with 1 drop per ml but too much will make your eliquid taste like vapor rub
AND/OR
TPA Koolada 10% - start with 1 drop per ml for a cooling effect but too much will cause throat irritation (similar to menthol drops but doesn't effect the taste as much)

DIY your own menthol drop to save $$$:
A thread on how to make menthol drop can be found here. The ratio and how concentrated depends on your preference (WL mixes it at 10%).

Here's how I mixed mine (purchased menthol crystal from WL):
1.Empty the 15g bottle of menthol crystal into a small zip-lock bag and crush it with something hard.
2.Stuff roughly half (~7.5g) into a 30ml bottle and fill it with PG all the way to the neck.
3.Shake vigorously and allow it to dissolve, you can use a warm water bath or microwave (5 sec intervals) to speed up the process.
4.This will leave you with ~20-25% menthol, start with 1 drop to 3ml eliquid and add more if desired.

My personal favorite menthol flavor is "Creme De Menthe" (in the Perfumer's Apprentice category) from liberty-flights.com. It's silky-smooth with a bit of a sweet taste. Menthol flavors tend to be very strong, so I'd suggest you add a drop and test. You can always add more if it's too weak for your taste. I personally mix all sorts of flavors that I think might work. Peppermint has become my base flavor which I find mixes well with "chocolate" (peppermint patty anyone?),black cherry, gingerbread, etc... Hope this helps! :)
