Hey Jules,
Do you have a decorated chuck you want to show off? I've got an idea for a lanyard but I need dimensions (I havent ordered a chuck yet) ...would be a solid bottom and ring of leather about an inch tall at the bottom and then another ring about an inch tall at the top of the body connected by a strap between them with a loop at the top..would be heavy on the neck but it's work..kinda a take off and variation of a beer holster.. kinda like
Beer Belt, Brew Belt, Beer Sling, Drink Dispenser Belt, Beer Dispensing Belt, Be or http://www.holsterup.com/products.php but way more minimal.. anyway take some measurements for me and I'll see what I can do about making you something (it's not much leather I won't charge ya anything) (and that offer for a free lanyard is just for her ya other vultures)

lmao, now I get the beer holster thing, lol That is so hilarious!

I really appreciate the offer and I will take you up on it. Who knows, maybe one day I can return the favor.

Here is my Chuck,

The Harley logo is on the opposite side of the switch. The length is 5" long with a circumference of 3". The switch is right at 1" from the top on the opposite side of the logo. If you will give me a price I would be more than happy to pay you for it. Just let me know! Thanks bunches!

no worries.. let me cook something up with what extra scrap leather I have round here..and see how it comes out and you can have it...

Yeah the beer holster thing..I once saw something more minimal than what I was finding online..it was more like the old extra cup holder things you could get for your car that had the little tail that would slip between the window and the paneling...so when you asked for a lanyard for the chuck I immediately thought of that and those and went looking to see if I could find it online

circumference is 3".. man you're gonna make me do math to get the diameter..just teasing

That's awesome! Thanks so much for that! I can't wait to see it!

I'm gonna take a minute here to talk about the people on this forum. Yeah we have the occasional spats and family feuds but it seems like a pretty decent bunch of people. I believe in the pay it forward thing. Back when I first started vaping someone bought me a passthru because I was having so many problems with batteries and having a very limited income at the time couldn't afford to keep buying batteries like I was. Since then I have passed that PT on to someone else and I have been able to help others with some liquid here and there. Rest assured folks, if you do right on here it will come back to you! There are still good people in this world.

Just outside my comfort zone.

Hi Thor, that holsterup looks very much like something that would work for me, and I am willing to PAY for it.

which harley do you and your SO ride? i ride an 09 ultra.

We did have a 1995 Dyna Lowrider show bike until an SUV decided it wanted to clumb on for a ride too,lol Now we have a '74 rigid modified into a trike with a Jack Daniels barrel made into a nice cushy seat so I can ride again!

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone. Some of them are really good ones!

Cool design!
It gives me an idea...

I make custom chainmail jewelry in a variety of metals. I can make a chain sturdy enough to hold any mod's weight comfortably, but the holder is what was frustrating me. I don't have the extra time right now to learn leatherwork, and a chainmail mesh pouch could hurt a mod's finish.

Sounds like your holster idea is a great one, Drozd, and you have the skills already to realize it.

...So Jules, given that you'll have a good holster for the Chuck, would you like to be my beta-tester for a handmade chain lanyard to hang a heavy mod+holster? I just think it would be fun to try this, and I'd like to help you find a good set-up for your needs.
(The only "price" would be your feedback...and a pic of the assembly. :))

Brass, black anodized aluminum or black/dark gold niobium (or better yet, a two-color combo!) would all match the colors of your Chuck nicely. I'd make it to your length preferences, adjustable with an extender chain.

Some examples of weaves that could be used...

(top row: half persian - flat weave; full persian - round weave. bottom: byzantine - round weave; dragonback - wide flat weave, best if you want a choker with a drop chain for the lanyard. all images are from my work.)

I'd want to be absolutely sure it can support the weight of the Chuck+holster. So given the relative softness of jeweler's brass or aluminum and the strength of these weaves, it'd have to be 19 gauge or thicker, I think.
(If you have metal allergies, niobium would work better and is a stronger metal -- I'm just out of stock in it right now but I'm going to order more, it'd just be a month's wait.)

That means the chain would be ~5-10mm wide depending on the weave, so the holster would have to have a loop for a chain that wide.

PM me if you're interested and have specs in mind, Jules!
