I see absolutely nothing wrong with vaping. I'm in the boat of life is too short to be boring and live under everyone's idea of how I should live....
Who wants to live forever anyway. Not I haha. vape on buddy

I don't want to live forever - just until there's nothing left to do.

I feel this way.... If there was no e cigs then you might have tried smoking instead. I think you did what you want and there is nothing wrong with that. I'm confused by the stance some take against never-smoker vapers because why did we pick up our first cigarette? Because we wanted to, or maybe a friend or sibling said it was cool. We had the choice to smoke or not smoke, you should have the choice to vape or not.

My 2 pennies

Your correct, and I feel similar.

What we didn't have is the choice of not becoming an addict once the thrills wore off.

While I may not agree or understand the choice, that's the very best part of freedom, making our own choices.

Welcome to ECF, enjoy your stay!
Vape on!

I'm not exactly the person you're looking for but I kinda sorta fall into that category. I had quit smoking *years* before I ever picked up vaping. I bought my first device and had never even tried vaping, the guy selling it to me had to teach me and it was so quick and easier to learn than I thought it would be.

I don't think it matters as much as people think on why someone vapes. If you are happy, then I am happy for you. :)

I don't think any flack you get is unwarranted. Nicotine is addictive and I see no need to want to cultivate an addiction that your body doesn't crave. I'm sorry if I sound self-righteous, but I just don't get why anyone would want to try nicotine. Vape by all means, but avoid nicotine like the plague!

I have a friend with a STRONG family history of Alzheimers. He's starting to research the advantages of nicotine in connection with that disease. Apparently, studies show that smokers don't generally get it. It could be that they just die of lung failure first, but the little bit I've read about it seems to show that nicotine can actually be good for people. It also helps with depression, apparently, because of the dopamine release that it triggers. Vaping would be an excellent nicotine delivery system for those who want to use it for its health benefits. According to one scientific article I read, it's also far less addicting when isolated and not mixed with the other crap that's in analog cigarettes.

I think vaping might be good for people who have over eating disorders. I think it's strange to bother with it if you don't "need to" but whatever floats your boat. :)

There is (or was) a company that was marketing their e-cigs as diet aids. Boy, did it ever upset people, but I think there's really something to it. I've noticed that I eat far less sugar than before I started vaping. When I want a sweet treat, I just load some "banana candy" into my tank. :) I have at least one friend who uses vaping solely for that purpose, and she's lost quite a bit of weight.

There have been studies that prove that nicotine is only addictive to people who have smoked, and that it's only addictive in combination to all of the chemicals in cigarettes. Like Sonata Dusk, I had quit smoking cigarettes a few years before I picked up my first e-cig to satisfy my hand-to-mouth habit. I vaped 0 nic because I was convinced it was very bad for you and highly addictive. It wasn't until I read the thread here about the benefits of nicotine and did more research that I found that many are studying the use of nicotine for all sorts of conditions.

After finding that info I started vaping low dose nicotine, 3mg mainly and sometimes 6mg in a dripper. I find that it gives me a similar effect to what everyone says caffeine does for them. It makes me feel more alert and have a bit more energy. I also feels it clears up a foggy feeling in my head that allows me to remember things more clearly and easily. These aren't ridiculous changes, but enough for me to notice. I also like that it could possibly help with Alzheimer's, as one of my grandmothers had it and I would love to avoid it.

I've been using nicotine for a few months and have not noticed a desire to vape more, or an increase in wanting to vape. I don't need it right when I get up and can go without it if I need to or feel like it. I wasn't a heavy smoker, but I smoked cigarettes and cigars daily for several years and was always a lung hitter. I also indulged in a hooka often as I owned one. I vape much less than I ever smoked and the amount never increased after adding nicotine.

I come from smoking cigs, pipes and cigars. The cigs were a habit & the pipes and cigars, more of a hobby, yet all contain nicotine. There's a long-standing mindset on the cigar & pipe forums of "Like what you smoke & smoke what you like". I'll just carry that over here & tell you that the way I see it is: Like what you vape & vape what you like.

Now, having said that, I'll also tell you that I know ...... addicts for whom it was easier to kick that habit, than it was to kick smoking tobacco.

Enjoy!

Good call! I like that philosophy.

When I first heard of someone vaping just casual, I got upset because it is like a life saving medicine for me. It's taken awhile but I got over that. I think the interference of the FDA changed things for me. Live and let live.

Vaping can be quite a hassle and expense, do casual users actually stick with it long term?

Ahhh right, I'm actually having gear issues at the moment lol that's how I ended up here to troubleshoot, so I'm currently just blowing mediocre plumes of vapor.

I started on 12mg of nicotine 'cause I started by just using my partner's on occasion, now we've both made an order with some 18mg liquids to see how we feel about it tbh

Probably would've just started on 0mg if I'd picked the habit up by myself but there ya go

Started on 12mg! Holy smokes! I was over a half pack a day smoker and 6mg was too much for me, haha. I'd vape for an hour, with 6mg, sitting on the couch and suddenly get tingles running up and down my skin. I'm using 3mg now and it's fine for me. However, I'm a chain vaper. I can sit at home and vape for hours. 12mg would freaking kill me.

I'm also a chain vaper. I bought more juice in 18 mg so hopefully I won't hit it every 2 seconds. I'm worried about my lungs feeling not clear (copd) so I want to be able to set the vape down for a few minutes between puffs. :)

I've been very worried about gaining a ton since quitting smoking so I hope I don't! But I agree with you.

Interesting! I never thought about it that way. I suppose for the people that want to treat vaping just like their old smoking habits that makes perfect sense. Normally you'd go outside and smoke a cigarette and you've got your fix for a bit. Makes sense with vaping too. Have a craving? Vape for a minute and then set it down and walk away until you have a craving again. I might have to give the higher nic a try for when I'm vaping at work. My normal week day: wake up, shower, walk dogs, get ready for work, vape on my drive in, after a few hours at work take a 15 minute break and vape, vape on my lunch break, vape on my afternoon 15 minute break, vape on my drive home....maybe I will try higher nic juice for those instances when I only have a few minutes to vape. I definitely don't notice the nicotine as much (3mg) when I'm only vaping for a few minutes. I notice it a lot more when I'm chain vaping at home lol

Yes, me too. When I'm vaping too low of nic, eventually I get a bad cig craving so I don't want that to happen either. I also have a small amount of 24 mg just in case. I have plenty of juice at the moment in 6 mg but I'm afraid to use it because of the cig cravings and vaping too much for comfort.

Well, truth be told nicotine may not only be beneficial, it is a dietary staple, niacin is nicotinic acid. When they discovered it they changed the name so the study would be taken seriously.

Edit: I see someone linked one of the articles.
