I have a dimwitted poor friend with a sigelei 150, and he lost one of his paired Samsung 25r's and cant go get another one til next friday. So he has an older, more used, Samsung 25r that he wants to stick with the one battery he found. I personally think he should just use his mech for a little while and wait but hes refusing to listen... Risk factor? In reality I guess being regulated he'd still be safe but hes still definitely increasing the chances of catastrophe... Does anyone have any expert input?? Fairly fast before the numbnuts just does it...

Aaaaaaanybody got input??

As a general rule, in parallel a newer higher voltage battery will drain into the older lower voltage battery to make the cells match...resulting is possible overheating and venting. It is really hard to advise on this without knowing the exact capacity of the two cells. Personally I'd never do it; you can never be too safe when playing with batteries.

When using paired batteries you need to monitor them to make sure their capacities are staying reasonably paired over time. Otherwise you run the risk of what Cotay said. So combining a newer one with an older, used one is generally a bad idea. Having neither a charger with display and/or a DMM to check them first is a really bad idea.
