Anyone experience increased irritability after a few weeks off analogs?

So, I have been vaping exclusively for just over a month. Got my first kit in the mail and have not smoked a single cigarette since it arrived. I am loving this hobby. I don't really even need to explain why, because if you've tried it, you know what's up.

But I have noticed in the last 10 or 12 days that I've been somewhat irritable (moreso than usual). I have less patience with friends/coworkers in general. I seem to want to be left alone more often at work (also moreso than usual). Just an overall lack of patience for things that seems to have increased in the last week and a half or so.

Has anyone else experienced such a thing? I would expect this kind of reaction to quitting nicotine cold turkey, but I'm still getting my nicotine (perhaps even more than I was getting from my analogs), so that doesn't really compute.

That said, I'm aware that there are loads of other addictive elements in cigarettes that my body must grow accustomed to going without. I suspect this is what is triggering my irritability, but I'm simply curious if others have noted the same thing in themselves. And if so, how long does it last and how did/do you cope with it?

PS: ECF is an unbelievable community. One of the best I've ever seen in my time on the internets...

I used to get very cranky after quitting smoking cold turkey. That would last as long as I managed to stay away from cigarettes and that was no longer than a month or so. Tell me about quitting cold turkey. I did it several times.

I was irritable for the first three days after I made a full transition to vaping nicotine. I'd also get cranky during the brief but intense cravings I got during the first couple of months after quitting. Relaxing with some good vapor always made the cravings go away.

It started with me in my late 30's....keeps getting worse every year....now at 47 all the dumbasses in the world really piss me off.

I found that I would get very irritable and 'nervous' feelings when I first switched. I actually still get it on occasion when I vape too much or use too high a nicotine level in my liquids - I recommend dropping down the nicotine content. When I vape 24 mg I get irritable and tense, when I drop to 12 mg I do not.

haha....so that's one vote for increasing my nicotine level and one vote for reducing my nicotine level. i suppose i'll wait to see what other members recommend.
Especially since you didn't say what nic level you use and how much liquid you vape per day. Take what you read on forums with a grain of salt as long as that doesn't raise your blood pressure.

good point. I vape 18mg regularly and carry a tank of 24mg for certain times when 18mg doesn't satisfy the crave. Have been getting through most days with just the 18mg, but i do lean on the 24 from time to time.

as for how much, i probably go through about 1.5 to 2ml a day currently.

vaping with mini vivi novas and twists/spinners at about 4.2 to 4.3 volts.

In my opinion it all concerns how much you can/do vape. If you are allowed to vape freely at work and at home then how often you feel compelled to take a puff may be a good indicator of your nicotine level... if you are vaping *constantly*, like a steam locomotive, you need to bump up your nicotine level and you will likely find that you don't reach for it as often. Likewise if you are limited to only occasional vaping breaks I definitely recommend trying to bump up your nicotine level. I need to vape 24mg when I'm limited due to circumstance but when I'm at home I enjoy vaping much more frequently and tend to shoot for something around 12-18mg (I dilute with pure VG to suit needs).

I'm 46 and noticed my tolerance for unbridled stupidity has really gone down over the years, even while I was still smoking, so that *might* play a role too ;)

I ran into a rough spot like that at about the 6 week mark. I was trying to drop my nic level at the time down from 36 to 24 to 18 after being a 3 pad smoker it was to much too fast. I went back to 24mg and started treating myself with WTA when the urge hit me. I'm down to 18mg now and still treat myself with WTA and NETs every now and then when I feel the need. The important thing for me is not to pick up an analog after being a 35+ year smoker anything is better than smoking again.

I'd try just vaping 24mg for a few weeks and see if that helps.

i'm thinking along those lines. maybe vape the 24mg when i'm at work (still have to step outside to get my fix) and use the 18mg when at home or in a setting where i can vape as needed. at this point i have so much 18mg juice...
