Anyone had a vape mod last for more than a year?

@Katya, it seems that a lit of mods released recently have had issues with the 510 connector. The only explanation that I can think of is that they must be employing designers, when they should have employed engineers.

And it would be nice to see more mods with a reimagined and reengineered fire bar solution, as it could be better done and is easier to use for some as @amoret has pointed out.

I agree. Just googled it. There are some mods with side fire bars out there, like vaporesso Armour Pro and VaporFi V-Grip 75W, but I don't know much about them.

Correct. I got my iStick 30W in the fall of 2014. I remember because we were all so excited about it--it was also my first ever box mod. I was afraid I wouldn't like the form factor, but I fell in love with it the second I got it. And then I immediately ordered more. They are fun and pretty much indestructible.

Right there with you, Katya! My iStick 30W was also my first box mod. In fact it was only the 3rd mod I'd ever bought. My first 2 were VAMOs. I really loved that iStick. It fit perfectly in my hand and was totally reliable until finally the battery gave out. If they'd only come out with an external battery version. :( I don't like the picos nearly as much.

The newer iStick 100W has a fire bar, but they're hard to find now. I bought several for my stash and really like them. Also the Wismec Predator. But both are dual battery mods, if that is an issue.

They may be too heavy/unwieldy for @amoret . I thought she was looking for a single 18650 mod. But one never knows. Are they heavy?

To me, the iStick is pretty light for a dual battery mod. But it is still heavier than a single, so it might not be right for her.

I was given an iStick 30 and an iStick 40 by my grandson, both well used. The iStick 40 is 4 or 5 years old now and still going fine. The 30 died though. The 510 got looser and looser until it was unusable. For a while I kept it working with a 510 adaptor but in the end even that wouldn't stay in. I read once that the 510 on the 30 was aluminium and they introduced a SS 510 with the 40. But I've also read that they were both SS.

@Katya? Vaporesso Armour Pro's are a decent mod. The only problem is trying to find them now as they have been discontinued.

And even with a 21700 they're not that cumbersome and heavy, TC isn't too shabby either.

Thanks! I hope @amoret can find something she can use comfortably!

ProVari P3 is six years old and still going strong - my all day, every day device. All my ProV 2's are still working after 8 or 9 years (admittedly only used occasionally since the P3)..
My original MVP has a built-in battery and is still working and holding a charge - it's indestructible and must be powered by something magical, it cant be a Li-ion :?: !!
Of the cheaper mods, the Eleaf Invoke has travelled the world with me twice now and is working fine... And another long forgotten mod - the Eleaf Aster, the most ergonomically perfect device made by Eleaf and still working long after many more expensive ones have ceased to function.
Where do you get your batteries for your Provaris?

A bit contentious here on ECF , but i get my 18500s from FT; TrustFire IMR 18500 3.7V "1300mAh" Rechargeable Li-Ion Batteries (2-Pack). Been using them years with no problems.

Read the discussions on the FT forum and decide for yourself if these are suitable for you.

My Kroma-R is in my frequent rotation, but I find myself vaping the iStick Pico 75W most days. It just feels good in the hand, slides into a pocket easily, and it's extremely reliable.

Don't have very many mods and only one of them is way over 1 year old... my little Innokin EZ Watt (internal battery 35 watts) Just today, the micro USB port started acting up (had to wiggle it to get it to charge) Its has got a lot of use and now is my carry around. My other mods (18650 batteries) I take super good care of (and they never leave the house... can't afford to buy much stuff) My brand new mod (Vaporesso Revenger X and two new 19650 batteries for it) haven't even tried it yet. I've come a long way since my Aspire PockeX all in one... I really do want to get just one mech mod though ;)
I do the same thing with my mods my mods do not leave the house unless I am spending a couple days somewhere and even then they are packed away and only taken out whenever I get there. I have some freemax gems that I use to go outside the house with because if I drop one and it breaks as much as I like those little guys it's not going to break my heart. If I drop one of my nicer mods I'm going to cry like a baby even though I have a whole damn cabinet full LOL I don't go very many places either but when I do go somewhere I'm taking a little beater guy with me. I like to have things on my lap in the car and then get out of the car have it start to fall, notice that it's falling, try to grab it and end up tossing it 30ft making the whole situation worse or stepping on it trying to stop it from falling

The few times I have dropped a mod/tank were when I put it on my lap and forgot. That's why I only use my old "beater" or pod for carry around. And yes, I have this crazy overactive reflex thing where something (even a drink) I start to knock over and I end up trying to save it just to knock it 10 feet instead ;)

Oh yeah.

Had SMOK Procolor mod for over a year. Other than paint flaking off, it was completely fine. It survived several drops, couple of rainshowers (left it outside overnight, fell off my pocket lol)
Neither of iJust sticks survived more than half year sadly. Those kept going bad.
Now I'm using Aegis Boost, had it for 7 months thereabouts and still happily using it. Also survived tons of abuse and working completely fine.

I guess with electronic products in general, especially mods, it goes like this - either you got quality one or junky one.

I've never had a mod that didn't last more than a year. I did have a couple of cig-a-likes that didn't last very long. Even my Ego batteries lasted a couple years IIRC.

I bought my first Provari in 2014. That thing took a beating and kept on ticking. Once at work, I dropped it about 20 feet onto a concrete floor. It and my Kayfun Lite still worked, but the battery voltage was fluctuating a little. I sent it back to ProVape. They re-glued the circuit board, and sent it back to me in less than two weeks. It still works, even if it is a little ugly.
