Mother just bought an iphone. I personally don't like it very much. I prefer my htc tytn over iphone anyday. The keyboard is much more convenient as well.
I'll have to read through this all after I post, but the ones I use more often than others are Facebook (obvious reasons), Yahoo! (quick news check), VehiCal (tracks gas mileage, costs, and repairs), DirecTV (to set the DVR away from home), Bill Minder (obvious reasons again), PhoneFlicks (set my netflix), and Flixter (to check local movie theater times).
Some others that I use less often are iDisk (mac cloud computing and file sharing), Skype (when I'm traveling it's cheap to call home), Chase (check my cc balance & pay my bill), McCormick Recipe Finder (for if I'm craving something or want to try something different for dinner), and Dual Level (I've used this hanging pictures, leveling the TV stand, etc.).
Some other "cool" apps are Drink Pro (obvious reasons), Shazam (if your driving down the road and this awesome song comes on but you have no idea the name or author, launch this app and click the button, it uses the mic to listen for ~15 seconds and comes back with the author, name, album, etc and you can click the music video to play it right then again on your phone).
Beautiful theme! I love it. I miss my iPhone...
But yeah, Jailbreak it. Kindle for iPhone is great (you can even get the free Stephen King eBook!! Totally worth it) and a game that I think is called iGod or something... You have these people on an island and you get to play with them![]()
Also, once jailbroken it's easy to get it back to "stock" with itunes.
Correct. In fact, you have to avoid letting iTunes update your iPhone software or it will restore the factory settings (un-jailbroke as it were).
Apple can't tell if you restore it before taking it in (and an iTunes update will also unjailbreak it). Also, if it's fubar'ed to the point of not powering up then they'll most likely have to reset to factory settings (if they can even get it to power up). And finally, I've read online that the employees at the stores don't care and even if they notice it's jailbroken they won't do anything.
There's also been some talk online that jailbreaking legally doesn't void your warranty.
Once jailbroken you've opened up a world of possibilities:
-Customization control over EVERYTHING
-Ability to run apps not approved by Apple (and there's numerous reasons apps don't get or go through the approval process)
-Increased functionality (i.e. record video using the iphones camera - now a stock feature of iphones)
-Backup control - I can backup my game saves which is something iTunes does not do (at least not for all games, if any)
-Download/use tons of paid apps for free (though it's illegal and I publicly would never condone it!)
-Etc...
i just spent like two hours looking at some of the new iphone4g videos omg lol go look at teh youtube stuff of the new 4g iphone it will do it all.
do you recommend what jailbreak program to use?
thanks
