I was just given one as a freebie from VaporRising at the Big Top here in Tampa. He confirmed that mine, with the black mouthpiece, is not Pyrex. The ones with the chromed mouthpiece are. I got it home and loaded it up with my new Swedish Fish DIY from Mt. Baker Vapor. Huge clouds of tasty vapor on a 50/35/15 PG/VG/DW mix. tank head seemed to fit just fine with the Protank knockoff I picked up over at GatorVapor just around the corner.

Oddly, the head that came in that one was a shorter EVOD type, but that's another story.

UPDATE:

Received my AROs thirty minutes after posting the above response. I am not going to cover the build quality etc. since OBDAVE has covered that.
First thing I did was take them apart to clean them (soap&hot water shake). While drying the air tube with a Q-Tip, I noticed a lot of fine metal shavings on the Q-Tip (sorry, didn't take pictures), so I let them soak in vodka for about an hour and ran a small pipe cleaner thru the air tube. Metal shavings gone and happy after cleaning them thoroughly, I moved onto checking if EVOD/ProTank coils are interchangeable with the ARO base. And indeed they are (thank goodness). As OBDAVE pointed out, the ARO head is a little taller due to having a thread or two more but the EVOD/ProTank heads do screw onto the ARO base.
*NOTE*
I have not checked the performance of the EVOD/ProTank heads so I cannot say if they will leak and/or gurgle during use in an ARO.

I am vaping these as I am typing this and will update in a few days with my thoughts

Piling onto udanijo's comments - I've got some head updates from actually trying to install them on a tank, not just screw them into the post. My notes:

Protank FAIL, Evod WIN.

The flange at the base of the Protank head seems to be a bit too wide for me to actually screw it into the Aro. I could pop it into the tank, but couldn't get the threads started with the Protank head screwed into the base.

Tried again with an Evod head pulled out of a Fasttech fake Evod - success. It also does indeed tighten up the draw and also seems to heat up the vape a bit. This could also be related to a different ohm coil - I've heard the Fasttech ones vary quite a bit and I don't have any kind of electronic metering devices.

Had a bit of a blowout when down below 0.5 ml of juice on one today - started gurgling, not from the typical overheating I'm used to from BCCs. Tried to hold the fire button and blow out the extra juice, instead of it coming out as vapor it puked quite a bit out through the carb holes. I've had this happen on occasion with Evods, so not incredibly surprising, but a touch disappointing.

Also, I didn't notice any metal shavings on cleanout, but I just used a hot water flush and a paper towel and pipe cleaner to wipe out - I could have missed it, as it seems much more likely they'd have been evident on a q-tip.

Will vape a half-tank with an Evod head (since I already filled it up) and report back with any issues.

I think you've got the one that's more like an Evod knockoff - see the pics on page 4 for differentiation between that one and the Pyrex one - but essentially it's the black plastic tip vs. chrome steel. Since it's a smaller device, I'm not surprised it came with an Evod-style head vs Protank-style.

Regardless, thanks for checking in to report on the other style, glad it's working out for you!

Let both of mine (the one I'm vaping on a standard head and the other on an Evod head) drop to within 3 mm or so of the bottom of the window (just above where the top rubber grommet is visible). Gurgling and puking juice out the carb holes on both, just like what happened the first time using the stock head. Boo dat.

Anyone got a workaround for this? If I'm continuing to vape the same flavor or a complimentary flavor I guess I could just always keep them topped up to more than 1/3 tank, but it sucks to think I'd have to waste 0.5 ml or so of juice whenever I want to change flavors instead of being able to vape the tank down to near empty...

Mine (with the stock head that it was shipped with) started leaking juice around half to 1/3 juice level, about the same as an Evod. Up until then, I was loving it far more than the ProTank, but I guess it's just the nature of the beast with a BCC. When I get a chance, I'm going to try to do some surgery on some coil heads and add slightly more wick or try thicker juice (I have mostly 80/20 due to my starting on CE4s) and see if that helps things.

I just want a happy medium, damn it... Top coils give me burnt/dry hits, bottom coils leak. Haven't tried a carto tank yet, so I guess that's next for me. Vaping was supposed to be less expensive, wasn't it??? LOL!

Carto tanks are great but it is pratice. Its getting that carto primed just right but once you learn that they are great!

Side note I got a Smok Tumbler recently and am amazed by the quality and design. I know the aro, trophy, and tumbler all use the same heads. Here's the strange part the tumbler works great with T3s heads and Protank heads which to my knowledge are not supposed to be inter changeable. I also read that it doesn't work the other way around- no Smok to protank at least. I've got Evod, Smok BC, and protank heads en route. I have not vaped on a protank yet aside from using a buddies. but I think of the cleros I have used the tumbler is one of my faves. The rip on it is just super- copious vapor with a slightly warmish draw with just a slight inhale. It actually took a while to get used to easing off a bit and that's coming from iClear 30's. (background I have used CE4s, T3Ss, Vivi Novas, iClear 16s and 30s) If the aro and trophy hold up to the tumbler I think I will have to be exclusive to them. Unless innokin's new tank brings more to the table

Grabbed a few of the Pyrex AROs from madvapes; I love these things. They seem to be able to take higher wattage without a dry hit, and the coils look nicer than Kanger head coils; they're almost wound like microcoils...the 2.4 ohm heads have about 9 wraps of wire and the 1.8 ohm heads have 7 or 8. I've gotta give 'em a helping hand with the occasional dry pull with thicker juices, just like the eVods and T3s, but the flavor to me is more pronounced and the vapor is great. No gurgles or leakage at all so far (knock on wood).:)

I picked one up from Discount Vapers last week. It's a nice looking tank with capacity and performance similar to the Kanger MT3S but with a glass tank.

It does not take Evod/PT heads. A blank, coilless MT3S base will screw onto it, but with even a shorty Evod coil, it does not seat and will not screw in. I picked up a couple of replacement coils, but it's a pain to have to keep up with more than one type of coil head. I like the tank, but I won't be replacing either the Evods or MT3S systems with it.

They're available from several vendors right now, but nobody seems to have replacement coils. Seems dumb to launch a new clearo without replacement coils available. The reviews I've seen thus far are good, and many, like the above poster, say it's better than the EVOD. I'm gonna keep an eye on this one....
