The truth is the older we get the more lung capacity we lose. That's just mother nature. Anyone who has smoked hard and long has done some lung damage even though they may not be medically diagnosed. COPD (emphysema and chronic bronchitis) is an insidious disease process. I have COPD and do breathe easier these days. While some of us might not have an exacerbation for months, this disease never improves but it does stall after quitting the cigarettes. A COPD exacerbation can be brought on by many different environmental irritants not just cigarette smoke. It has been 7 months since I quit and the elephant on my chest is thwarted by medications and staying away from irritants. If you are younger and smoked less than the 46 years as I did and you feel great, then SING baby SING! Good for you and all of us who took this journey. I can't wait another 5 months so I can sing too!

They say after the first year you gain 7% lung capacity. Anyone notice this that is 1yr+?

The only thing I notice is I can actually sing now. lol

Does having a rip roaring belly laugh without coughing count? :D How 'bout shouting with clear tones and no coughing? That one was a recent surprise. Then there's the big "fill your lungs completely" inhale thru nose or mouth without being caught coughing halfway through. Nope, can't pick up tennis again though unless vaping can fix my knees. :p

I haven't done any sort of scientific tests, but I will share this:

I have just short of an acre of property, and I push mow it all, and it's got a good slope to it from front to back.

I haven't changed anything about my life other than switching to vaping.

Last year it took me almost 2.5 hours to cut my grass, including breaks. Now I can get it done in about 1.25 hours, without a break.

Based on that alone, I'd say something improved!

Absolutely. Best decision I ever made. I quit smoking last year via vaping. I also quit vaping and had a relapse and started smoking again bc I didnt like vaping the first time. I bought a new mod and bought better ejuice and now I will never smoke again. I absolutely love vaping this time around..and since I started vaping again about 4 months ago, I have noticed major lung improvement.

I did! At about 3 months off tobacco, I saw that my resting oxygen saturation went from 95% to 99% using a pulse oximeter. I could feel the difference, and I wasn't hacking in the morning and coughing going down the stairs. It's only one of the reasons that I have encouraging some of my patients that CAN'T quit smoking to try vaping. It may not be good for you, but it's BETTER for you!
