Anyone notice weird bumps on 18650s ever?

Hey guys, I had a quick question. So I have two sets of 18650's for my RX200. One set that has been drained for a couple days I threw on the charger about 5 hours ago. I just went to check them and one of them was done, the other 2 were still at 1 solid (of three lights on the 4bay i have) dot, like they almost hadnt charged at all. I took the full one out to look and noticed a tiny bump on the center of the negative side. I then pulled the other out for a look and those two had it on there two. My other set of three and my other sets of 2 for other mods do not have this bump.

They are efest purple 2900mah batteries. My other purple efest, samsungs and awts are all flat bottoms. Problem with the batteries? Charger?

Have an imgur pic, but I do not know if I am allowed to post it?

Hope so! Money is kind of tight, I know these are Efest but when i first started vaping 4 months ago it was all i could afford. The have worked great and lasted a great while in the mod over these months. Idk how long those have been there, just noticed them. Like i said, nothing on any of my 8 others. I mean, all the others have rings or little marks from the contacts i would assume. But these 3 are the only ones with those pin bumps. Kind of scaring me a little bit lol

I've seen very slight bumps on a few cells but nothing like what that seems to be in the picture. If they're not charging and you've confirmed that the charger is ok then it sounds like it's time to retire those two cells and use the third in a flashlight or single-battery mod.

Thanks @Mooch ! Is there a way for me to test the charger aside from charging another battery on it? I have one on it now charging, one that doesnt have the bumps like this one on it that i bought for my mech mod. Needless to say after seeing this i havnt touched my mech and I have been eyeing the S-word out of my batteries. Afraid to even put the Rx200 or r200 in my mouth.... I have a weird thing with batteries..

odd... are the bumps extended out of the battery or inwards ( Im assuming outwards since you used the word bump)..
Im betting that those were there when you got the battery and never noticed, what it looks like to me is the extrusion pin ( forming pin) had a bit of a nipple left on it from the cutoff from being lathed... when the metal is forced into the forming cup by the forming pin it creates the case cylinder. The cut off nipple then formed the bump...
there is nothing inside the battery that would have enuf hardness to make such a small well centered bump and plus the pressure required to make it would most likely cause the battery to vent...

I can't help with the "mystery bump" but this part, at least, is easy to explain. Some four-bay chargers have the bays split up into two "channels" of two bays each. For example on my Nitecore D4 Digicharger, bays 1 and 4 share a channel, as do bays 2 and 3. *Each channel will charge one battery at 750mA, or two batteries at 350mA. If you've got three batteries in a four-bay charger, that means one channel is full (both batteries) and one is half-empty (only one battery.) So the channel with one battery will be charging at a higher rate than the channel with both batteries. If you'd like to have them all charge at the same rate (probably a good call) you can find out if/how to put the charger in low-current mode so you can charge the third battery at the same rate as the other two. On the D4, you select the battery bay using the side "Slot" button, and then hold the side "Mode" button for approx. one second, until "Low" appears on the display. To cancel low-current mode, either press and hold the side "Mode" button again, or else simply remove and reinsert the battery.

*This is contrary to what it says in the manual, however in my actual, personal use of the device, I am pretty confident that this is how it actually works. The manual says it will "charge 1 or 2 batteries at 750mA, or 3 or 4 batteries at 325mA." In reality, two batteries will only charge at 750mA if they're installed to separate channels (the manual makes no reference to said channels, it only states that each bay charges independently), otherwise they will still charge at 325mA even without using low-current mode, and when charging 3 batteries, only two of them will charge at 325mA, and the third will charge at 750mA unless you use low-current mode.

Charging another battery is the only way to easily test it.

Thanks for all the replies guys, ok @Mooch . Its not the charger than, 3 batteries all charged up fine. Looks like its time to retires these ones. Any recommendations on what would be better in the rx200? Another set of samsungs? Some vtc3's? vtc4s?

Picture looks like Dimples, not Bumps. Innies, not outiees.

What Mod have you been using them in? Look at the Negative contact in that mod.

*Honestly, first thing I thought was Mechanical Box with Battery set screws.
I assure you they pop out, not sink in, it does look like that though. I used them in my RX200, contacts looks fine on the mod. Now i have some others doing it that i use in my Smok R200 mod as well. Not sure what the hell is going on.
