I know we tend to get carried away in here discussing our favorite vapes on our quest to find that "all day favorite vape" but has anyone been keeping an eye on the safety forums? The safety of e-juice is one thing but what about things like e-juice sitting in a carto next to a blob of solder, or the safety of filler material, etc. What about the bottles that e-juice comes in? I drink only filtered water in BPA free water gallons. I would like to see e-cigs as a valid form of pleasure for non-smokers too (chewing tobacco users, nico gum, etc) and there seems to be this reasoning that e-cigs are safer than cigs and people are happy with that and that's the end of it. What are your thoughts. How safe are our "favorites"? I wont name brands as I'm not trying to imply that one vendor's ejuice is unsafe.

i agree, i have heard some certain vendors have possible carcinogens, probably minute but still. i would like to see more topics on safety, such as is the fiberglass used for wicks and such safe, and what about the browning of a cartomizer after its been used a while, how i am i supposed to use a cartomizer. i just want to be educated on this,

Many are so happy to have quit analogs, they populate ECF with continuous commentary on how they feel so much better, how the PV saved their life, etc etc .. and that's fine ..

However, there is an undercurrent of issues .. which, unfortunately, tend to get poo pooed by the majority here ..

Point is, no one knows conclusively the vast amount of home made chemistry that goes into liquid nor what reaction some combinations have when vaporized in a carto or any other delivery device .. there is no industry standard and I don't believe some vendors even have their own internal standards ..

None of this has caused me to stop using my PV, but I do tend to quiz a vendor these days on ingredients which I think all of us should do ..

I have had some responses from some clearly highly educated posters, IMO, top experts in their field. It seems they are usually in the electronics field.... Where the experts in this field? We all know it is up to us to organize any major call to action. Were throwing it out there now, do some real research, so when the FDA comes calling, and they already have, we have some real firepower. We have the manpower, why arent we using it?
Also, isnt there an e juice company that uses glass bottles?

Kwalka the fda wont care about "our" data. They have their own agenda. Which ever way politics is blowing....
ogredog, if they request info from "our vendors", it seems to me that our data could migrate into vendor data/research, in a two fold sense: 1 It's in the vendors best inerest to not have their business shut down. 2 I believe its true that a lot of designs and mods and ideas etc, start with user ingenuity, then vendors build off of what we originally come up with.
I am very new at all this. I have 4 kids and smoked for 15+ yrs. With that said, I went from 2+ PAD to exclusively vaping about 2 months ago. I am still in awe at how easy this was for me personally. The thought that big corporate interests want to take this resource away from me and the general public, and we possibly have some power to fight back, seems like a no brainer to me.
Weather they care or not cant change the fact that there has to be data from both sides if we ever stand a chance of surviving the assault from big tobacco, and the political wind.

Many use glass bottles. Halo, Vapor Station to name two but many more do.

Juice is pretty basic stuff: Nicotine, PG/VG and flavoring.

We know about nicotine. PG has been studied extensively because it's used in inhalents. To some degree VG has too.
Then there's flavoring. It is made to ingest because most of it is food grade but a lot probably isn't known about inhalation. You can solve that if it's an issue for you by vaping unflavored.

I do know that I'm not ingesting the 4,000 chemicals plus high levels of bacteria that were in cigarettes. Apparently the FDA is OK with that.

Thank you Nuggetz. No idea at all what that means.

It's good to be concerned about what your ingesting. I definitely feel safe myself ordering from AV and most of the registered suppliers here on this board. Like I said, juice is pretty basic stuff. If you ever get into DIY you'll see. If you ever buy a juice that doesn't taste quite right, don't vape it or contact the supplier.

BTW, you aren't alone asking this. I think this is something we all wondered about when we started vaping.

I would bet that the carcinogens found that they were talking about was back when the FDA tested a few and found a minute trace in a few brands, but during retest did not find any. There are several threads all over the forum about this topic. I cannot be sure that this is what they are referring as I do not read every post put out on this forum, but that is a common post that gets mentioned and questioned a lot...

Oh, and to add - I transfer anything that comes in plastic bottles to glass upon receipt. If you are vaping through it fast and only keeping one bottle at a time - not much leeching can occur, but most are not and why take the chance.
