I rebuild all my kanger coils. Anyone rebuild the updated yet?

Anyone familiar with a particular site still selling the old ones. I have been building on both the same dual and single coil heads for close to 5 months now and they are still holding up (I had 6 of each type in rotation). Sadly 2 heads fell down the drain when I was rinsing them! So now only 5 of each in rotation. Always good to have spares.

Anyhow I can't seem to find any rebuilding info on these new updated kanger coils. any info would be great. Thanks

Lightning Vapes has both the old and new style Kanger heads for rebuilders. I tried the dual coil rebuilds -- too much trouble for my old hands. I stick with the single coils and rayon -- been working great.

Awesome! I can't wait till I get paid. You have no idea how happy I am to be able to buy these. I can get 25 of these for the same price that I got 10 of the regular ones for. Add cost of wick and wire and you are still saving $. And the quality of the coil and wick will be way better.

Do u or anyone have an opinion or info on which grommet is better? silicone or rubber? The ones that comes with the original kanger head is rubber but I wonder if the silicone could withstand more heat. It would be cool to build 1.0 ohm and 1.2 ohm coils. Guess I gotta do some research.

I wonder which ones are in their new sub ohm version heads. I have previously read to be cautious of going to low because the heat can melt the grommet so they had to of done something different with the new version since they go as low as .8 ohms. I would love to see one taken apart.

Thanks again.

Racegun59 the link works now. Don't know what was wrong yesterday. Thanks

I tried both the rubber and the silicon and prefer the silicon. They seem to last longer and are easier for me to work with when reassembling the heads. I've heard the silicon is also more heat resistant but that's not been an issue since I switched to using non-resistance/resistance/non-resistance wire builds.

I'm pretty sure Kanger is using silicon grommets in all their heads now.

By the way, don't forget to use the LV15 coupon code should you order from Lightning Vapes for 15% off. I'm pretty sure it's still valid.

Sweet hazozita. I have never used the non resistance wire set up before. I do have very tiny burn marks on some of my grommets but none are actually melted. Gotta get some of those and the silicone top caps too. It'd be awesome if the coupon still works.

On the factory kanger coils it looks like their non resistance is soldered to the resistance wire. I am not a fan of the solder. I do not exactly trust that the chinese or overseas manufacturers to not use solder that has lead in it (solder always has lead in it for the most part though solder without lead is made but probably costs more$ and is more work to get).

That is why I don't use cartos anymore (other than that building your own is way better). If you tear a carto apart you 'll find a nice big glob of solder attaching the 2 wires together. As that stuff heats up it can release heavy metals into the vapor with lead being one of them.

How do you attach your resistance and non resistance wires together? Do you just twist them together? I have some silver jewelery wire though it is very very thin but I might give it a try. I am about to try out this vertical build for protank coils I found on here.

BSD's vertical hollow core Micro Coil build for ARO, Evod, and Protank heads.

Thanks for the info!

R-NR wire joining is usually done by welding the two together, not by solder. I looked into getting a wire zapper to make my own, but found it to be a lot cheaper to just buy the ready wires. I get them at fasttech -- couple of bucks for a 100-pack of straight or a 50-pack precoiled. The coil size on the precoils is a perfect fit for the Protank heads.

Links below are for 1.5 ohm; lots of other reisistances are available. I also like to use two 2.0ohm straight wires in a tight twist to get a 1 ohm coil.

Cool.

Welding makes sense. The ones in the cartos I have disassembled are connected with some solder though. it seems to be how they attach everything metallic together inside of them. There is a big silver blob of it usually which trails down the one wire to the base, it is very obvious that it is solder. At least the ones I have opened up had it. I am glad to know that the kanger and other coils are welded instead.

I have to check those coils and pre-welded wires out. I have to see if they have kanthal ones. Nicochrome tastes metallic to me. If fasttech doesn't someone will. I just haven't done the research into nr/r/nr before. Seemed like more work to me. Would be smart though so I can build lower ohm coils in my pro and aerotanks. I don't go lower than 1.5 with them. I usually build on something else to go lower like my bottom feeder or my RDA. It would be really cool to have a 1.0 or 1.2 on my protank though.

I would like to do it myself but that zapper is too expensive! either buy them pre done or twist them together.

Thanks!

Before I found the pre-mades I tried twisting. Never could get it to work. I know it's possible to make them like that, but it's a skill set that I could not master. I had better luck with silver crimp beads, but you have to be careful to crimp them just right so they fit into the protank head cup.

Bead link: http://www.amazon.com/pieces-Crimp-Sterling-Silver-Crimps/dp/B00A0Z7GW0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1405722193&sr=8-6&keywords=1mm+silver+crimp+beads

If you want to try out the beads PM me your address and I'll mail you some. I'm sure I still have some in my vape junk bin. Be forewarned: those suckers are TINY! Get the magnifying glass ready!
