I have tried several times over the years to quit smoking. Usually about day 28 I would transform in to something between a rabid black bear and a mad wookie. Needless to say, that is when my support group would abandon me.
Last year as I was in the process of purchasing my house I tried again.
Background: less than a pack a day smoker of light cigarrettes.
When I tried, I used the Riva with atomizer and cartridges I had to load. For 3 weeks, while I fought it to keep it up and runing, I was able to go to a pack a week. Mostly because I told mysel no smoking in the new house, and I made myself go outside for an actual cigarrette. After replacing several bad atomizers, and batteries, I gave up. I had a move going on and an at work injury that I was dealing with.
I told myself that I would try again, once my no name generic cigarrette cartons went above $50.00 a carton. Severl weeks ago, I learned that my $48.00 a carton cigarrettes were going to jump $10.00 a carton due to a new tax, I started looking again. I ran across a friend at a rally that was using the REO Grand e-cigarrette and enjoying it. I acquired his set up information and vendor locations through a series of e-mails and ordered a similar set up. Only difference being the choide of e-liquids.
Crossing fingers waiting for final delivery to arrive.

I got a clearo for my X2's (love 'em!) in hopes of being able to qualify for one of those 'since my last cigarette' banners -- but I keep finding a drop of juice on my battery after awhile (like multiple times a day) -- it's driving me nuts! And one of my X2s is an automatic for vaping in the car -- am I going to ruin it?

What am I doing wrong? What are *you* doing right?

I was getting the drop on my auto X2 all the time. It didn't break, I would just wipe the drops on the battery every time I heard the kind of gurgling sound. I now have manuals, and hold the button while drawing on it, then release the button while still drawing on it for a second or two. (This reduces condensation). Also, someone in the SI forum here said to screw the clearo onto the battery upside down to make a better connection. I still get a drop on the battery a few times a day, but it's much less than it was. I just wipe away and keep vaping. Yeah, it's slightly annoying, but for me it's less annoying to wipe every few hours than to top off cartos all the time and worry about burning then dry.

When I first got into vaping, my plan was to taper off cigs over the course of a month or two. After a week or so, I was driving home and thought to myself that I have to stop for a pack. Then I thought to myself, why bother? Haven't smoked since.
I think the habit, for me at least, was more the action then the nicotine.

Happy to say that I haven't smoked since picking up my first "e cig". I find it much more satisfying as a whole.

Those two about summarize my experience. I budgeted two months to taper off but after using my first ecig, ego-c twist, I knew it was more than sufficient to fill my habit. Didn't have another cigarette after. Oddly, not even a craving or desire since. I didn't expect it to be as easy to make the transition as it was.

As I'm sure you're reading its a bit different for everyone. For me I didn't get a PV with the intention of quitting smoking. I thought it would be an additional vice :) A friend of mine had one and explained all the flavors etc. and that he quit smoking...I figured if I could do this and quit smoking BONUS...

So got my first PV and still had about 1/2 pack. Started vaping and noticed that I didn't have that really strong NEED for the nic anymore but I was still drawn to TCs. I figured I had smoked for so long that my body's craving for nic was satisfied from the PV but my brain was telling me I should be smoking (not gunna lie took a bit of will power to get over that part)...and I enjoyed the PV so much better, it didn't stink and it TASTED so much better!!!! So I had one here and there from my pack until they were all gone (can't waste money, right?) smoking as quickly as I could through the TC (even putting them out early) so I could get back to my PV! I haven't had a TC since mid Feb 2012....

I'm the same, quit six months ago, and the only times I've smoked were on alcohol or drug-binges, once on holiday (batteries died), and once in a club in Amsterdam (one battery died, dropped the other on the dancefloor without noticing).

Not too sure why people would need real cigs once they took up vaping, besides battery-death, but some seem emotionally attached (like my gf).
My friend's gf even prefers the taste of real cigs over ecigs... I just can't imagine how.

I got my first ecig mostly for my husband two years ago. We started with the blu e cigs....that didn't work out so well. I still craved a "real" cig. Then a couple of months ago I bought the South Beach Smokes, he loved the taste and feel of them, and he put down the analogs right then. We still had a couple of packs at that time so I of course I wasn't going to waste them. On Sat. May 12 at noon, I smoked the last one... and I freaked out...omg I don't have any more cigarettes. I puffed on my ecig until I got a headache, then realized I wasn't even craving a "real" one. So I gave a big sigh of relief, went to my computer and rewarded myself by investing in tons of liquid, all kinds of cartos, clearo's and tanks and obviously I had to have a real battery to try all of this stuff. I have not been tempted in the least to go back, yet I always make sure that I have everything I need to keep vaping...don't want to run out of stuff and have another panic attack!!! I honestly thought I was going to struggle through this like I have every other time I tried to quit. Nope!

Good luck to you. Make sure you get a high nic juice for when you would normally smoke (with your coffee in the morning, drinking with your friends, after dinner) and a low nic juice to get you thru those times when your are just doing it from habbit (driving long distances or sitting somewhere long periods), a vape induced headache sucks.:glare:

I started vaping 13 days ago with an el-cheapo kit from Walmart,,,,,,a week or so later, I ordered my volt,,,,,,,and once while I was waiting for it, my e-cig (the cheap one which had NO battery life AT ALL) died at Disney World,,,,,so I had an analog,,,,,,,well about 5 puffs of one,,,,,,,,,,,DIS-GUSTING. I won't touch them anymore,,,,,,,,gimme the yummy juices instead!!!!! Each person is different though, and you shouldn't feel bad if you "need" a cigarette,,,,it's about reduced harm,,,,,,if you are reducing the number of cigarettes you consume, that is reduced harm :) It's HOPED you will eventually quit analogs all together,,,,,,,but slow and steady wins the race! Good Luck!

Hello from Germany. I'm new here, and i can tell you my way. My first try was the e-health cigarette, the first and last vape mistake i've made. I don't know if its known in the USA, but it works not well. That was in January. In February i got my Ego-T
from Amazon, and since then i don't need cigarettes anymore. I'm mixing e-juice by myself and now im on the hunt for Golden Greek  And by my inspiration there are 7 new vapers

Different people do things their own way. You'll stop smoking cigarettes when you choose to. Personally I stopped the moment my first nic+ juice arrived, but I also made the decision beforehand to do just that. Your smoking situation sounds similar to mine, always have time to smoke, and I've found vaping to be "better" than smoking. You can take a pull or three and put it in your pocket for 5 or 10 minutes, or sit and take a 5 minute "smoke break", it's fairly self regulating (you'll feel a nicotine od and stop before you would with tobacco). Smoking is the 9-5, vaping is Casual Friday. With pina colada and cheesecake.

Trying that and it appears to be working. I guess I'll use clearos on my manual (1 X2 and 1 78mm) and cartos on my automatic (also 1+1.) It's probably a lot less annoying if I'm not worried about my batteries. And I found a comment that I should always lay it down on its side, that also seems to help.

Hello I'm new- been vaping for about 4 weeks. I got e- lites a year ago but only had them as a no smoking substitute but didn't like the flavour much. I got JAC e- cig (refillable cartomisers) and cherry liquid and I enjoy this quite a lot- would like stronger tasting liquid so am going back to my vendor soon to see what else he has got. I am thinking I'd like to go choc/coffee/caramelly as I always smoked flavoured hand rolling tobacco. I do miss the tobacco sometimes- like after breakfast and dinner so get a little in from time to time. I think it is the strong flavours I miss.I haven't had any for a few days as had a terrible cough/cold virus and didn't even vape for 4 days!
I think I must need some new cartomisers as they are starting to taste unpleasant this evening- this is my first vaping in days after the cold- either they are dying or my taste buds are off!
I have had fun vaping- vaped in all sorts of places- evening class, training days I'm doing, the bus, cafes etc- nobody has told me to stop- they are amused by it or intrigued!
