Anyone trying to reduce their nicotine? I'd like to hear about it.

Shannon - the active ingrediant is albuterol sulfate and I couldn't find what the other ingrediants are.

BardicDruid - I think you missed the point. The thread was for those wanting to cut down their nic and what they went through at different levels. Not having a goal of 0, but I admire folks that got there. I saw the biggest change going from 12 to 6, but then a month later couldn't tell the diffence. I'm sure there is a physical dependence in there, but with me, I also think it's mental.

Someone brought up that nicotine has a pepper taste and another said there is less TH with less nic. I'm not seeing that, but I also wasn't paying attention. Interesting how it affects folks. I've got some 24mg left at work and going to try it and see if I can tell more TH. I might be going up to 12 instead of down to 0. :)

I started at 24 mg, 18 months ago. I'm down to 12 & I just ordered 2-15 ml bottles of 0 nic to mix with 4-15 ml bottles of 12 mg which will bring me to 8 mg.

I took a good long while to go from 24 mg to 18 mg. I keep several bottles of juice in different places my desk, my work draw, my pocketbook, my bedside table, etc, etc. They run out at different times. I just fused the lower nic in as each bottle ran out. The switch was so gradual I didn't notice it. I did the same thing going from 18 mg to 12 mg & I'll do the same going to 8.

I kinda felt dropping to 6 was too steep a drop. We'll see how it goes. I don't really care if I ever completely eliminate the nic. I didn't intend to quit smoking, that just kinda happened. :)

Don't try too much of it. I vaped on hubby's 15mg ff and on for about an hour last week (he had a new flavor I liked). I got the worst head rush. It seems to be a bigger difference going upp than going down.

I went the hardcore route: stopped analogs and started vaping at 12mg, this week I'm on 6mg, and next week I'll be on 0mg.
Having access to automatic weapons and a firing range helps keep the nicotine rage in check.
Should be nic-free by the end of next week.

iball - Why the rush? LOL. I was comfortable at 6 until someone got me paying attention to TH. Now I feel the difference and it's not quite there at 6. Still on the fence on that decision, but have lots of juice left (12 and 6) and not in a hurry. No use being uncomfortable with cutting down. Good luck to ya. To each his own and what ever works is good.

I just switched from smoking about a half pack a day of Camel Lights to smoking 8mg cartos. So far so good, but I am finding myself vaping more than I ever smoked. I'm hoping to get down to 0mg eventually. My next batch will probably be 6mg cartos. I'll report back when I do. This is a great thread BTW.

EDIT: I am finishing up my second week off cigarettes and into e-cigs.

I'm doing it REALLY hardcore... 25 DuMaurier Kings to 0 nic. Without a gun. Although I can see the appeal. REALLY.

I'm into day 2 now, and I know from bitter experience that the first 3 days are the worst.

I didn't mean to do it quite like this, but seeing that nicotine in e-juice is not legal here in Canada, I decided to quit all the way. (Out of the 28 years I've smoked, I've been quit for 11 of them, in three big pieces - all cold turkey.)

Now I'm figuring out the nic juice in Canada thing, but I'm scared Health Canada is going to ban the whole thing before I manage to kick the habit... thus the rush to 0 nic. Honestly, I`m afraid to be dependent on something that Health Canada can ban with one sweep of their evil fickle pen :(

I HATE Health Canada sometimes.

One major upside to 0 nic is that I LOVED smoking, everything about it, and I love vaping pretty well just as much. With 0 nic e-juice, I can vape and vape and vape without puking. For dealing with the first week of a quit, that is a Godsend.

I wish you all luck with your goals, andd please wish me luck too darlings,
Onawa ;)

What exactly are the side effects of lowering your nic level and what are the benefits (other than being less dependent on nic)? Currently I vape 36-24 mg juice without any problems (well....I do stay up pretty late, but then again I sleep late so I don't think it's the nic's fault).

I think Shannon explained that (post #24) better than I can.

Yeah, it's kindof like concentrated black pepper taste. Most of them are 'mint' now, but if you wanted to identify it, the nicotene lozenges for smoking cessation will give you a jolt of it. Try one for 15 mins and you'll never forget that taste. :p
Not sure how anyone successfully uses those long enough to quit analogs...

This is why I choose to not live in socialist/communist countries like Canada.
Canada: Great Place to Visit (but you really don't want to live there)

I'm waiting on my 0nic level juices to get in - I ordered from a vendor who can mix juice to increase throat hit w/some sort of alcohol without adding nicotine.

Yeah, not wanting to turn this into a deep political debate so I'll leave my views aside there, but banning this seems misguided at best and downright criminal at worst. There is a product which does, indeed, contain a harmful, addictive chemical: nicotine. It's an alternative to another product whose primary selling point is nicotine, but also contains many known carcinogens, tar, fiberglass, and a laundry list of chemicals that they're somehow not required to list. So, let's ban the first one, and NOT the second. Nice double standard there that. There are most certainly a number of campaign contributions mixed in there.

That being said, I know lots of folks in the US that order medicines from Canada when they're over-the-counter there and prescription here. While technically a crime and possession of a controlled substance, it's not enforced at the individual consumer level at all for small amounts, and only garnering attention when someone orders 50,000 Oxycontins or someting... would be willing to bet that a 500ml bottle of juice now and then would be a non-event. Guess it just depends on the scale it's placed in as illegal. Similar to an unapproved box of heartworm meds for your dog... *shrug*. Similar o a 500ml bottle of ....... No dice.

I tried some 0 nic in my favorite flavor and found that without nic, it tasted horrible

After reading this I had to try my only 0 nic juice. Some BRB Caramel Cap. and it tasted fine, but NO TH at all. Suppose I'll stick with 6mg a bit longer and work on vaping a little less. I didn't know I was hung up on TH until it wasn't there. :)
