I got a 18650 box off Ebay that I've butchered to be 18350 but I'm either going to have to paint or cover it and my painting skills are virtually not existent. I'll probably have to paint the top and bottom anyway due to the angle but that's nothing compared to trying to get a good even finish over the whole thing.

Anyway ran across this stuff in smaller sheets. Wondering how easy it is to work with and what tools if any I'd need besides a razor knife and maybe something to heat it up with like a hair drier. Looks like a inexpensive, good looking and hopefully easier solution.

I don't know anything about the stuff you're looking at, but the easiest thing I know of for making enclosures short of molding is to use polycarbonate or acrylic sheet. You simply cut out your pieces than glue them together with welding fluid designed for that purpose. The bonds are just as strong as the plastic. BTW, polycarbonate is the most impact resistant, but scratches easily. Acrylic is more scratch resistant, but less impact resistant.

I already purchased the box off Ebay, just cut the size down from 18650 to 18350 which messed up the finish. I either have to paint it which was my original thought but I suck at painting or use a covering and ran across this stuff. Wasn't sure how easy it would be to work with for such an application though.

I picked up a 4" x 8" sheet yesterday and am going try it today. I'll update with how it turns out if anyone is interested. Oh and the link below shows it being used, although on a MUCH larger scale.

It will work. I've seen that carbon fiber vinyl used so many times on mods and tanks and drip shields I'm kinda tired of it.

Some of yzrmbsg's work.

I actually like this guy's plain vinyl approach.
