LorAnns Sassafras-is in fact non-soluable--but I really not buying that theroy anymore--I contend IMO--it goes to the darkness of the flavoring and if it is a natural oil, which the sassafras is not according to Lorann--so I have used it--Bicfords also makes a Root Beer if I am not mistaken--anyway, many of the Lorann Flavors do in fact cloud up in PG or VG and that is totally normal-------Sun

When I was experimenting at the very first, I was still figuring out how to use my e-cig at the time and got that sassafrass all over, I recall. Quite a bit leaked onto the thinner brown plastic, straw-like part that one style of cartridge has. I ended up putting that cartridge away to play with other flavors and haven't used the sassafras since as I later found out it was insoluble.

Quite sometime later, when I looked at that cartridge again, I noticed that that the thin plastic part had much thinner areas which tore very readily and seemed to be actually eaten away. Nothing like that has happened with any other cartridges. I check specifically for weakening and damage there now. I'm sure the concentration of some of what I dripped into the cartridge was too high, not helped by the fact that it didn't mix in well. I figure the effect on the cartridge part might have something to do with concentration as well as that not being the right type of flavoring to use. However, I found the mental image of it doing that to my lungs disturbing enough that I decided not to use that oil for vaping again.

Sassafras Flavor
Product Number:0120-0100
Kosher Certified. Contains: Artificial Flavors. Insoluble in water. Appropriate for use in chocolates and coatings

Again--it is insoulble in water--but when I used it, I had no issues--great flavor--After mixing now for over half a year, I find thatthese hard and fast rules about flavors IMO are not set in stone by any means--------Sun

Way out there....
I have found that Insoluble in water does not translate to Insoluble in PG. I have used a lot of them with no problems. All of the mint flavors work fine, insanely strong but work fine with no problems. I have tried Tangerine in straight PG, left to sit for a day will develop a yellow crusty ring on the edge. Shake it up goes away comes back in a couple of days. Shake again goes away and does not come back. Taste is there no problems with atomizers. Try them. Your mileage may vary.

Finally a voice of reason pierces the din.
I have ignored the oil will kill your atty rule. I have read a lot of company data and tests that used different ingredients to make a particular flavor and 75% of the those ingredients were oils. I have been using Clove, all of the mint oils, the orange and lemon oils too. The thing is it does not take a lot, especially when using it in straight PG. One or two drops at most to 10ml, so the concentration we are talking about is in the .005% - .03% range per drop. When using VG/PG mix you will have to add more as IMO VG diminishes the flavor so you have to use more. I have been vaping for 50+ days now and have not had one atty die from using oil. I am sure their days are numbered (knock on wood) but all of my attys are going strong.

I do however avoid anything with sugar in it.

Sun,
Have you tried Tangerine or Clove oil? These do say natural ois, but I am thinking to mix with everclear .. I love tangerine so I am willing to see if an atty holds up on it.. but do you think the oils are safe?
Thank you Lori B

Tangerine--I have tried the Clove oil and it is strong. How safe it is to vape these is not known. I really am not all concerned about the atomizer as the health as my cleaning of atomizers leaves to coil clear of all residue. As for the health aspect, it is anyones guess. Still has to be a lot better then smoking and if you are switching around flavors a lot, it might not be that big a deal. Only studies will tell us that.

I would have to agree that the clove oil would be safer in a ecig then the clove oil they lace into the djarums. Since they do use clove oil in them and you are burning the analog and inhaling I think it would be WAY safe in and ecig. I have been a clove smoker for over 18 years on and off. So I have jumped to the clove oil ecig and have not had any ill effects in the last 50 days form vaping clove, pepermint, wintergreen, spearmint, orange, anise, or lemon oils. If you are unsure then dont do it. But I am loving life here, I have a ton of flavors and make new ones every day, and some are actually good LOL
