I think a lot of folks who started vaping without them feel like they aren't necessary. If I hadn't pretty much started with them, for DIY, I probably wouldn't have used them, but my throat was really torn up when I started vaping, so the smoothness was appealing.... :)

I dtl and prefer the smoothest hit I can get. NN has nic salts smooth & thought I'd give it a try. I'm using 9mg now and was wondering if with salts quicker delivery I should start at 7mg. I have been chain vaping more than usual lately and hoping salts will slow me down.

I don't know that you need to go lower, but you will need to pay attention to harbingers of Nic Overload a bit more quickly. With that said, I didn't lower my nic when I moved to nic salts, and found no increase in chain vaping OR the need to lower my nic, I vape the exact same amount of nic either way. If you want to err on safety's side I guess you could lower it.

I wonder why more people don't use it?

For me, there's not much point because:
  • Regular nic works fine for me
  • I like a bit of throat hit
  • Nic salts are harder to find and more expensive
I expect it's much the same for a lot of people. It seems to be like just about everything else in vaping - there's no right or wrong, better or worse, there's only what happens to suit you personally.

That's what I buy. NN nicotine salts smooth..

I don't notice an immediate difference between store bought e juice and DIY with the smooth nicotine salts as far as nicotine hit goes but there are a couple factors as to why that might be.. first, I vape mtl lower wattage, and I don't use much by way of nicotine anyway..

I use 3 mg of e juice for most of my use (95% of the time, at 11 watts), and have some 6mg sitting in another tank for use with a little higher wattage (25 -30 watts) when I want some extra punch, I use that a couple times a day..(The other 5% of the time)

As to your point though, you will just have to try it, you vape higher wattage than me so you might find a difference where I don't.

In school I was taught that smoking was a habit now it is an addiction and people talk about an nicotine high, a faster delivery time for the nicotine. I'm using 3 mg nicotine, down from 18 mg was very easy. I'm after flavor when vaping. Funny how time changes history, we've event had to change the definition of words.

I gotta be honest, I don't really notice *much* faster delivery time, as I said, I use them for the smoothness of the throat hit. I've often combined regular nic (from my storebought juices) with my DIY juices, and I notice very little difference. I don't so much get nicotine "highs," but I do get satisfied by vaping enough nic over the correct period. I don't think I'll ever get that type of "headrush" high that I occasionally got with cigs (if you smoke enough of *those* you really don't get it much, either) though once I started vaping, if I ever smoked a cigarette, it would kind of remind me of when I used to get them, early on... Which is the reason if I pick up a cigarette, I'm going to need to smoke several, to remind myself that doesn't last. Then, I would have a nic hangover, the next day. Not really worth it. :)

I think though, with nic salts, the differences are slight enough that you may not really notice. Though, Juul makes this claim, and that does seem to be the cigalike that a lot of smokers enjoy, but at 50 mg/100 ml, you'd BETTER be satisfied....

Thank you Letitia for that correction. 50 mg/ml would indeed be "Out of this world!" in a very bad way... LOL. I went back and edited my post.

Probably my fault. Still learning diy language. Found a site with a language primer, only had time for a quick skim that day.

Yeah I use NN smooth nic salts, for me it's remarkably smooth in comparison to regular nic. I don't notice a difference in absorption or buzz at all but it's so smooth that I can mix higher nic than I could ever vape before (because of throat hit/irritation) and get nic'ed up quickly if need be (I vape 3mg, but have mixed 10mg for occasions where I can't vape frequently).

So from my experience, no need to drop nic, you probably won't notice a difference other than how it feels to the throat, but you could certainly increase nic to what would have previously been an uncomfortable level for the throat should you need a stronger dose at some point.

Nic salts have been a real big win in my book, but yeah, they're not for everyone. It sounds like you'll dig the salts.

ETA regarding the earlier comment about nic salt and drippers. All I use are drippers (bottomfed). Nic salts are amazing in drippers.
