Thinking about picking one up. Curious what peoples' opinions are on it.

Here's some info on it from Vapor Hub and Tac mods USA
Vapor Hub Simi Valley -FREE E-Liquid, Mods, Atomizers, Full Vape Shop
[h=2]AR mod Features And Specs[/h]The AR Mod has a smooth steel body that fits 18650 batteries. The rails look like a traditional AR-15 but they smoothed out and chamfered to fit comfortably and nicely in your hand. This patent pending design also allows your hands not to slide down the body tube like most traditional mods. This gives you a smooth grip in your hands to fire the octagonal shaped bottom button. All the contact pins in the AR Mod are copper to allow for maximum connectivity. We have done voltage drop test and the AR Mod has a voltage drop around .03-.05.
The AR Mod has knurled bottom cap and top cap designs to give the mod a rough looking design. There is a small chamfer on the top cap that comes to a point at 22mm to give a good flush look on all 22mm drippers. The top cap has 2 adjustable pins to fit each flat top and button top batteries. Each mod is cerakoted black to give it that military look as well as protect your mod! Each AR Mod has been tested to ensure each mod works properly. Each AR Mod comes with its own serial number engraved on the rail as well with a custom dog tag with matching serial numbers to ensure authenticity

Very nice looking mech, particularly the brass version, but the price tag is pretty stiff.

Also keep in mind that a large portion of the aesthetic will change depending on the battery you install in it (ie its gonna look kinda wonky with a brass mod and a green Sony 18650 showing through).

I totally agree with you. I think if I do decide to purchase this mod, l would go with the black. I like the stealth look it has and it really does resemble the barrel of a ar15. What do you think about the holes in the tube, regarding debris coming in contact with the battery and contacts

Doubt it will pose much of an issue, worst case scenario you have to clean your contacts a bit more often, but regular cleaning w/ 90%+ Iso alcohol is always a good idea imo.

It is an expensive device. I'm a little spoiled by the Chinese products. You get big bangs for your bucks with those. I have two mech mods, a clone, and a genuine that I paid $259 for at a local shop when I first started this six month vaping journey. Used it for two days, it's still virtually brand new. Never even used the clone, although it is a beautiful piece. I'm just a tank guy I guess. Have two Provaris, so am not overly concerned with the expense of quality gear.

But for a unique and different mod, albeit just a mech mod, this is pretty cool. If I could use a kick in it, and put a i30S on it, I wouldn't mind having one!

best regards, larry mac

Couple of my friends have picked one up (black, olive drab and SS respectively). I want a brass version (absolutely beautiful) but can't justify the $250 price tag. I have handled all three and can vouch that they are well made, substantial and feel great in hand.

If you have the $180-200 in hand for a non brass/copper version and it appeals to you, go for it. Probably one of the best made/hardest hitting mods on the market.

I was actually eyeing this mod myself. Theres only 2 things that bother me. The holes on it are a little off putting in my opinion, yet a red or green battery would look sick with the black version. Then theres the price, in that price range your options are more open to what you can get. I do like that its made in the USA though. And about debris getting inside of the mod from the holes, the guy that sells these actually answered that exact concern in another thread, I forget where it is though.

What does this mod offer that justifies the hefty price tag? The niche AR market? Cerakote? I just don't see it and I am a big AR15 guy.

being an AR15 guy, you of all people should appreciate the price tag. Just like quality rifle parts, you are paying top dollar for precision machining, quality materials, and the 'merica stamp. I personally feel this is a very fair price for this piece. Being the weapons and gear enthusiast that I am, as well as owning a firearms related business, this is definitely something I want to get my hands on.
