Hi,

I want to try dual 22 Gauge Kanthal, at .4 or .3 ohms,
NOTE: i know many or most of you will say it will have too much ramp up time and it's not good etc... but i like to try it, and i will... BUT only one thing i want to know, since this will be a huge amount of wires, prolly 12-13 wraps each around a 3.5 mm drill bit (or 1/8 inch if i`m right with imperial)

so the question is, is this build safe with a 30 amp Sony VTC4? i mean i can safely vape .4 ohm 26 Gauge kanthal on that battery, does that massive amount of wire in case of 22 gauge change anything regarding safety?

i think the only difference would be slower ramp up time, but since i couldnt find anyone else making such build, i just asked to double - check, for the sake of safety :)

thank's in advance

Your battery will be working really hard to heat those up. From a safety standpoint, your fine. However, expect some high temperatures (on your RDA and through your mod) as well as decreased battery life.

I agree with Thrasher, even though your RDA only had a dual coil mode, try it with single coil. It won't hurt anything.

When I was using mechs, I played with 22g twice... I did dual coil on a 3mm mandrel, 6 wraps each, and it came out to 0.2Ω. It was unvapeable though... It took 2-3 seconds just to get to operating temps, then after two drags my mod was way hotter than I was ever comfortable with... That's with half the wraps you're planning on.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck and I hope you like it.

Oh, and ⅛" is 3.175mm (0.125in X 25.4mm/in = 3.175mm). :)

i agree, and that's why i prefer single coil now, i tried it out and ramp up time was sooooooo long and cooldown time was also very long, so that was not a vapeable spec, however, really good for just 1-2 6 second hits which i like sometimes :) the wire doesnt get scorching hot, so you can make those big hits, however, tomorrow ill get my temp control mod to satisfy those long hits ;)

thank's for advice , i saw the same from my own practice too, you are absolutely right

as for battery life, it's also true, you have to "fire" it longer, which means more watts consumed, batteries did not last very long too
