I honestly can't answer your question, but I can share an experience...

I ordered some non-branded KR808 batteries. I was placing a large order from a Chinese supplier, so I just picked them up kind of on a whim. They were $8/each (give or take), and they were better than the V2s I'd originally started with (I know... way overpriced). They worked quite well, and I didn't have any problems from them. Then again, I only used them for a month or so before I pulled the trigger on a mod, so I can't speak to their longevity...

I would guess you'd be more likely to get a dud buying off brands, but if you don't, I think you'd be fine. If they're cheap enough, it's worth the risk... Buy 3, and if two are good, then you're still on top...

Just a thought...

I believe the Volt is an automatic, and a good one by the reviews people here have given it. Just make sure you don't get the KR808d-2. They are not compatible. I started with the KR808d-1 and still have 3 batteries which my wife is trying for the first time. I moved up to the Echo because I like the automatics.

Edit: it really is your call. I have not tried the V4L or the Volt but many people here like both brands.

It seems alot of people speak highly of the V4L system, they are a bit more expensive than the Volt.

Go with the Volt.

It's supposed to be identical to the Bloog, which is excellent, and it's supposed to be very similar to the V4L, which is on par with the Bloog. It's the cheapest, and quite likely almost identical inside, if not exactly the same. I have two generic batteries that are also supposed to be identical to Bloogs I have, and I can't tell the difference, but no, not all 808's are alike, by any means.

Just make sure you double check that the green smokes don't have any hidden return fees, and such.

Pdavey (guessing sir?) no they're not. There are gen 1 versions and gen 2, gen 1 (like v4l makes) are the old school non regulated versions. These vary in quality vendor to vendor. V4l does make an updated version of this in their king diamond and stealth series, it's a new cell technology that holds it's voltage longer than any other I've tested. Gen 2 are the regulated version which bloog, volt, halo g6, etc are based off of. They are regulated to 3.6v on load and last longer than gen 1, but with a trade off of lower voltage. If using old school cartos, then a gen 1 is your best bet. If you want the newer horizontal coil cartos, gen 2 is. Horizontals burn juice very easily after 3.6v due to the heating area being so compact... Hope this helps...

Vapor4Life are the latest version of classic style KR808D-1, just like what the original manufacturer Kanger makes, with the hard gold-color button.

SmokelessImage Volt has a newer style with a rubberized finish and they claim 320mah for the 78mah vs 280mah for the Vapor4Life standard size (same size as the Volt 78mm) - so Volt claims a bit longer battery charge. The Volt manuals have a pretty tiny button but a more sealed threaded end. I am happy with both.

I highly recommend manual batteries. I have never damaged a manual with a carto leak and I have been using KR8's for 7 months. Only some of Volt's colors are available as manuals. I got my first Volt battery last week (Raspberry manual 78mm) and it is very nice. The rest of my batteries are Vapor4Life plus one generic Kanger KR808D-1 battery, all manuals.

I find many of Vapor4Life's fruit flavors often overdone. And some of the tobacco flavors are strongly flavored too. Some have a sharp edged hit in those hot WOW cartos to the point where some people have to vape a nicotine level lower than normal. But I like several of their flavors. I have not tried the SI cartos yet (they were out of the sweet flavor sampler I wanted in my nic level) but I did buy a pack of their blanks.

And no matter where you decide to buy, sign up at both places to get their sale emails.

Bloog or Volt! I like Bloog AND you can go down to the Bloog vendor section and post questions and get help! The Bloog cartos rock for blanks (think someone said the volts were similar) If I was doing 808ds I would:

1) Buy your batteries--autos, maybe try a manual
2) Buy 1 charger (as a back-up)
3) Buy this!!

Newegg.com - Rosewill RHB-330 7 Ports USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter

I haven't tried it but I charges 7 batteries at once for $20! All you need is the usb part to connect the cig to this usb. I have 3 chargers going + a PCC 24/7. I WISH I got this.

4) Buy a few more batteries if you need to...
5) Get a Pcc IF you need one. Bloog just told me that the batteries hold a charge for a long time... So if you have many batteries and a 7 slot charger you can just toss several into a case and blow off the pcc. One of the Bloog reps goes out to events with 6 batteries in a case and no need for a pcc. I vape hard and I went to a long party with 2 pccs and a case in my pockets and it was a hassle... It would have been so much nicer to toss 5-6 batteries into one small case if I had a multi-charger...
6) Save your empty cartos for when you experiment with your own juice!
