Don't laugh at me for asking this but I'm only asking because of my paranoia. My ENT had been on my case to quit smoking for years now (I saw one because I have acid reflux) and he was always worried that one day I would walk into his office for an exam and he would find something. If any of you read my quit story you saw that it was related to my ENT and his constant harping on me (well that and 50 percent of myself that already wanted to quit.)

Anyways I was just curious and I'm going to assume that inhaling vapor is not going to cause me to get throat cancer, or anything like that? I had cleared the e-cig with all of my doctors except him...I didn't feel like going in to talk with him about it because I asusmed he would say it was fine since all my other doctors did (including my lung doc) who I had been working with to try to quit smoking.

I guess I'm being paranoid and needed opinions here from fellow vapers.
Thanks:blink:

I don't have the facts about that. However, safety questions are never a laughing matter. Consider these:

1) Choking on a mouthpiece cap that comes off too easily. I lot of them will come off more easily than others, especially when biting down on the cart or carto causes the cart or carto to become deformed. I recommend hard plastic, not soft plastic.

2) The molds for many of the makes of carts/cartos leave sharp edges on the mouthpiece. Over time these will cause sores on the tongue.

3) Count on vaping while driving. A nic fit does not wait until it is safe. You will end up taking unnessary risks if you have to topoff a cart/carto to get a good vape. Make sure your ecig allows you to fully concentrate on driving.

4) Only buy manual batteries, as there is a real risk of the switch in an auto-batt sticking in the ON position.

5) Don't allow an ecig to get wet as once again there is a risk of the ecig staying ON when it should not be.

Back to your original question, IMHO we can judge how much the vapor is irritating our throat by how much mucous our bodies generate to coat our throats.

4) Only buy manual batteries, as there is a real risk of the switch in an auto-batt sticking in the ON position.

Why must people continue to propagate this myth? Now I am a relative noob but I can still read and have seen far more references to manual batteries accidentally turning on in someones pocket/bag/purse etc. than I see actual testimony of and automatic sticking. Or do they sell those button protectors simply for cosmetic reasons. Now newer manual batt's have the ability to deactivate the battery which is a great advancement. However similar advancements have been made in the autos. I've been in clubs with ear splitting loud music and out in my boat vaping at 30 mph and not once did my auto come on without me taking a puff.

Now before I am accused of having an agenda or trying to blow vapor up someones a:censored: I have no affiliation with any company and in full disclosure I did have one of my autos briefly stay on after a puff. I know this because I could see the led still so I unscrewed the atty and it went off. I continued to use the same battery for another 2 weeks without another problem and would still be using it if I wasn't out of juice.

I am not saying it's impossible for it to happen but rather that I have seen no evidence to suggest that it happens any more frequently than with a manual. In fact I just googled e-cig battery explode and the same with melt and almost every reference was to a mod. the few I found with auto batteries were related to issues with the chargers overcharging them and had nothing to do with the auto switch.

Auto bat or manual bat it really doesn't matter the only thing important is what you like. If you like to vape out of a ice cream cone go for it if you like to vape with a auto or manual bat go for it. Of course Auto bat's have some disadvantages when it comes to leaking a manual bat can take it a auto bat can't, however, even though I mostly use Mods I still enjoy a Bloog auto bat every now so often.

Remember -- smoking was also once thought of as healthy!
Back then, ppl also though it was ok to put cocain in Coca Cola. Time changes alot of things. Ppl are much more health conscious now and are generally much more knowledgable now about general health. Between the 1900s-1960s, everything that made you feel better was considered "healthly". Just my 2 pennies.

Funny how if you wait long enough, everything comes back around.

Isn't that why many people say that e-Cigs are healthy? Because they "make you feel better" than analogs.
