I have searched several forums on ECF and am coming up with conflicting answers. Some people say the G6 batteries are unregulated, other are saying they're regulated--who's right?

On a side note, I'm brand new to vaping and have been using the G6 kit for about 30 days (with no desire to touch analogs again). Really loving Halo's products!

I submitted my question to Halo's website and got the following reply this evening:

Hi,

Our batteries, both the G6 and Tritons, are unregulated. We.decided to.go with.unregulated batteries because they.are more dependable, last longer, and offer a hotter hit when fully charged. Hope this information helps!

Have a great evening,

kittybite, regualted batteries are those that have a circuit board maintaing the same voltage (whether fixed or variable) throughout the run time of the charge. Unregulated batteries start out at a peak when freshly charged and slowly lessen their output until depleted, normally with a cut-off at around 3.2 volts.

Generally, unregulated batteries have a longer run-time for the same mah rating than regulated batteries as the added circuitry takes some overhead.

The Triton vv twist battery is an example of a regulated battery.

Unregulated batteries tend to be more trouble-free, but of course you do not have the option to adjust the voltage.

PeteC2, thanks for the input! I've been learning a lot about various ecig-related things lately and this came up in a YouTube video I was watching so it made me curious. I like the idea of related batteries, because it seems more consistent, but my only experience is with the G6s. I'm thinking about ordering some regulated batteries from another vendor that's compatible with Halo just to try it out, but would appreciate input on whether it provides a "better" vaping experience in practice :)

I was curious about that too. I got a G6 starter kit back in December, so I figured I was going to need to replace them sometime soon. But I had always wondered what the regulated batteries would be like to use. So I bought one just recently, tested it for 3 or 4 days, and then ordered some more G6's. I didn't care for the tighter draw on the regulated battery and the G6 had more vapor production. If you're just using the regular cartomizers, try the Low Resistance version sometime, they are wonderful! :)
