I feel theres currently this hype for regulated mods currently, you see more and more higher wattages mods coming out every week. So i guess because of this hype for regulated that mechs are being ignored for the moment.

Futhermore i dont think YTs would want to keep reviewing mechs as they're usually the same, whereas currently theres alot of innovation for the regulated mods although i must say some of those "innovations" doesnt really have any use to them.

I guess it's a combination of several factors.

1) prices of regulated mods have come down by a lot.
2) the reliability of China chips has improved.
3) how many ways can the designer improve on a mechanical mod? Not many, I think. The improvements would probably be on the design of the switch. The rest would be just cosmetic changes. A lot would depend on manufacturing tolerances.
4) 4.2v down to a flat battery, same performance throughout for regulated, albeit a slight drop when it's nearly flat.
5) ease of mind for beginners
6) cloud chasing I suppose.

I use both types and prefer the regulated, cause I don't have to strip it and clean it periodically. Lazy bugger I am.

Every YT reviewer I see are doing regulated mods. Where have all the mech mods gone?

I'm still using the GG with Ithaka.... Feels so yesteryear.

You see them using 'disposable" devices. NONE (okay 99%) of the devices will be useful in 5 years.
You will still be using the JustGG and Ithaka and I'll be tooting on Esterigon and Tilemahos.

There are many who love them (myself included), and in some cases use nothing but. Why you might ask. Kept clean and well maintained they should last a life time. The chip goes pop on a regulated mod and a soldering iron and a screwdriver isn't going to help you.

But theres more...

They are arcane.
They are an anachronism.
Their simplicity for me equates to beauty from an engineering perspective. I used to like Zippos for same simple effective engineering.
I like the challenge of building the right coils, for the right atomizer for the right mech. So that a it provides a great vape from fully charged to battery swap out time.
Theres something almost steampunk about a battery tube in this age of microchips and LCD displays.
No box mod sits as comfortably in your pocket.

If you dreamed about being a wizard or a steam-engine driver as a kid, then you probably have a mechanical mod in your vape collection.

I love them and I couldn't give a flying weasels backside whether they are popular or not.

I love my Reo, day in day out my vape is exactly the same, perfection, all I have to do is change the battery and rewick once a week. When I used a regulated mod in the past I found my sweet spot and never changed the settings again, what's the point of that, speaking only for myself. On a mech one just has to know how to build a coil (what ohms) and you can have what ever kind of vape you want. So never say never but for now I am a mech guy.
