Mods that don't have chips of some sort (even ego twist style batteries) won't allow you to change the v/w you vape at. As your battery drains your voltage goes down.

The only way to improve your vape experience is to change the resistance of your coil (or build a new one if you are a rebuilder).

Regulated Mods Vs Unregulated Mods

Pros of Regulated Mods:

Consistent vape regardless of battery voltage.
Adjustable output voltage allows you to customize your vape without changing coils.
Numerous safety features.
Temperature Control keeps you from overheating your coils/burning wick. (Only on a few devices, like DNA40)

There are good chips out there that aren't Evolv DNA chips as well, like the Yihi chips, and the Pringles chips. :vapor:
I'll have to agree, you can't beat the Pringles chips.

As for the original question, it's entirely a matter of preference. Personally I prefer a regulated mod for the reasons Sir listed previously, the temperature control on the DNA40 is a bonus. For me, the DNA mods are worth it; for someone who prefers a mech mod then the answer would obviously be no.
