having spent about £170 on my first week of vaping, i get the feeling that i have not done enough research on prices in my quest to stop smoking. what i have at present.....
(tecc 510titans .....)

3 atomisers
3 auto batteries
1 pcc
10 empty carts(15 filled ones with pack)
1 usb passthru
15 ml TW coffee juice med
30 ml TW vanilla juice med
30 ml TW tobacco juice med

my question is... how long should this last me and has it been a reaonable investment?
p.s.i was smoking a pack a day marlboro gold at £6.10 a pop

I don't know teddy because i don't use a Titan. I use a Penstyle. The Bottles of TW must have cost you at least £50.
I use TW Apple High and a 30ml bottle will probably last me about a month but i use prefilled carts first and top up with the TW as the day goes on.
As far as your question are uk prices on e-cigs a rip-off????.
Well i think ALL UK prices are a rip-off.
Yesterday 5 Tomato's cost me £2.50.
A Tomato... half a quid. 8-o

That's TEN BOB in real money 8-o and that's what I paid last time I bought the bland, white-fleshed buggaz :-x

Yes, all UK prices are a rip-off - it will be interesting to see how much Microsoft charges for Windows 7 compared to the US. But I shell out hand over fist for e-cigs because they got me off baccy and I shall be eternally grateful :) I have probably spent 5 times as much as I've needed to, seriously, but it keeps me on the straight and narrow ;)

Can't help with non-Stick Janty products, it was only recently I found they could be purchased in the UK.

well , I've started getting hardware from China these days, just because of cost. A 510 will cost £50 or so uk but from somewhere like www.eastmall.net the same thing will cost £26.

Granted ordering just 1 item with shipping ( around £10 ) the savings are less , but if your ordering some liquid ( which is a heck of a lot cheaper £25 for 100ml) and a few spares at the same time , you can almost half your costs.

edit: just to add, If you where spending £6.10 a day in ciggies and now your vaping only then you'll be saving money regardless where your getting you kit from.

Welcome to the forum BTW. :)

My problem is that I have been spending far more money on vaping than I was on tobacco because I was smoking duty free tobacco and the cost is an important factor for me. It's just as well the Government hasn't got it's grubby little fingers into the e-smoking pie yet.

I also think the retailers are probably maximizing their profits by working out their prices based on trying to make it only a little bit cheaper than what it would cost a smoker to buy analogues at uk prices. Instead of basing their prices on just a straightforward profit margin on what they can get the goods for. It should really be incredibly cheap to vape but it isn't.

TECC parts have a 28 day warranty, and that's a lot of juice. You're ok for at least a month with what you have now. At worst, you'll break even compared to your old Marlboro habit.

TECC/TW prices aren't in the realm of "rip-off," they're right in the middle. There are some vendors that would have charged you double or more for what you have there. There are others that would have charged you less, but you either wouldn't have TECC's guarantee and reputation for customer service (and might've gotten stuck with faulty goods), or you'd be waiting 10-14 days for delivery from China.

I might've suggested a different model, but you've made a sound first choice. If you like the Titan and don't have any urge to try a different model, your per-month-cost will fall sharply after the initial start-up costs.

Regarding the question in the title, I've noticed that UK prices seem to be slightly less than those in the US. Now the current exchange rate might have something to do with it but there you go.

Of course it is cheaper to order direct from China, but as individuals, we haven't got the overheads that a supplier has, and, as well as general business running costs, don't forget that reputable businesses will have taxes on top.

I have done a joint purchase from China for something that we couldn't get in the UK, but generally, I will stick with supporting the quality UK suppliers - for the convenience of getting it quickly, for knowing the quality of the product I will be receiving, and for the warranty and service that I know I will receive.

So no, I don't think that UK prices are a rip-off at all.

Aye, Teddy we are in a little paradise as regards cutting edge technology for e-cigs and other things. And all the childproofing that UK Trading Standards could wish for. :)
When you add p&p and a good dose of anxiety over customs to some of the tempting international stuff, the Uk sellers are often the very best bet. And FAST!!!! That said, there is no harm in shopping around - just don't forget to do all the sums. And then what will I do the day some far travelled but ill-wrapped, ill-handled e-liquid poisons a postman???

Vaping has saved me on cigarette costs, lighter costs, ashtrays, house cleaning costs, clothes cleaning, medical costs, and a load of physical and social human misery.

I ain't goin back!

:)

Best,

C.

Inexperience costs the most. I cut my liquid 50/50 with Glycerin now and I have a homemade DSE901 passthrough (I killed the switch with dripping) converted to a manual with a PC reset switch. I killed a couple of atomizers and batteries with dripping and cleaning and wasted tons of liquid trying to get correct filling methods with cartridges. I now drip 100% of the time and am really loving E-Cigs. The price of passthrough's and batteries are pretty steep and verging on rip-off status in my opinion and definately not recommended for drippers. PS/Ecigs.co.uk are doing sealed manual passthrough's (around £20) which I recommend anyone who spends a lot of time at home to get. I use my own homemade manual with the kensington battery pack and will be happy to stay this way for a very long time, probably cutting nicotine levels down further.

i think it takes some confidence to start tinkering with other substitutes and inevitably i will go down that road! i just need to forget about 'ciggies' first and then work on reducing nicotine! its been a great 7 days since my last smoke and boy does it feel good.
to be honest, i dont even mind spending more on vaping as long as it is in someway helping me stay smoke free.

can i ask where u buy glycerine....?????

:
Another thing - Jason of TECC has spent a lot of money getting his juices lab tested and he was one of the first to get his labelling legal.

well my first e-cig purchase was through e-bay and i was ' guided' to tecc for the rest of the gear!

i am inclined to agree that the positives far outweigh any negatives and in terms of cost, i am already sending back my passthru and 1 battery because they are defective, i think the postage will be what gets us with the overseas companies!

Any chemist. Boots do a bottle for £1. I'm currently using 'Care' brand but I don't think it should make much difference which brand as long as it is just pure Glycerin. The only Ingredient should be Glycerin BP 100% with E422 mentioned somewhere.

Those TW mutipack prices must be new, I've never seen them before and yeah they're great value.

Well, since China won't supply UK businesses with JOYE kit directly - only through their UK distributor (the name of which has already been mentioned) - prices are, pretty much, set by that distributor and what prices they're willing to sell to other businesses at.

The only other way to get JOYE kit is to buy Janty - but, there again, that's already marked up twice.

Depends what you call expensive you can get a 901 kit for £20 a pack of 5 atty's for £17 and juice for about £8

That will last you about a month total cost £45

Next months will be cheaper because you should get at least 2 mnths out of 5 atty's

So not as expensive as cig's but must admit i have spent about £150 trying various ecigs juice ect
