I only asked about the width of the 510 to get a better idea of the size of the mod. Of course if you are making these for yourself, naturally you should cater for your own specific needs. I was only suggesting other possibilities in case you ever think of selling these. I'm sure they would sell like hot cakes.

Hubby was an artist with all the heartache that goes with that in a previous life and would not go there again. (You would know) so he won't sell them. His woodworking and workshop is his passion and these give him projects to work on. It keeps him alert with the problem solving involved and dexterous with the actual production.

No it would extremely difficult to get the 26g to hold under the tiny screw heads on a Kayfun Lite and probably even the 3.1,
The resistance problem was probably a combination of factors. ONe of them could have been the slight leakage into the base. But it could also be related to something you mentioned. With the 28g there is a limit to how much you can tighten the grub screws without cutting through the wire. So there might have been a little wiggle, almost imperceptible but there nonetheless. I felt more confident with the 26g and the coil is now much more stable. Since when I vape I tend to chain, the ramp up is not a big issue for me and I have ample warmth for me at 16 watts - even 15 will do me nicely (and make @motordude freak out a little less. :) )

I had a RTA/RDA (I can't remember which) that I was having trouble keeping the wire under the screw when I tightened it. I'm not one to post a problem until I have tried everything I can think of, so I played around with it. I discovered that I can wrap the wire around the screw, which keeps it stable, then screw down the screw.

Science

It's time for science!

Scientists hate it when vapers say "ohms reader". It just kind of grates on them.

They're called "ohmmeters". Most multimeters ("voltage readers") have one built into them. Most aren't very good, but more than good enough for measuring 500K ohm resistors.

Ohms are the unit of measurement for electrical resistance. Think of it as how much of a fight that your coil is going to put up before your battery becomes a thermonuclear device.

An ohm is really a very small amount of resistance. The unit is named after Georg Ohm, who was a real scientist.

Just think--if you're subohming, there is less than one of him between you and certain death.

I prefer to have closer to two of him. Sometimes even four.

That's science!

I do that too - in fact most of the time it is the only way I can get the screws to hold down the wire. 28g is normally my favourite wire but on some atties even that is sometimes difficult. But it's a hobby, right? So I'm not complaining.... I just go with the flow. ? Solving a problem can be very satisfying in itself. And making sure you're alone in the room takes care of the cussing. :D

Am I the only person who does not care what is Trending today?
What ever happened to being your own person?
I guess individuality is a thing of the past.

I'm so individual people have a hard time figuring out what I'm vaping.

True but when your trying to stop smoking it's easy to get swept into the industry, the will to give up and the fear of smoking again leads some of us to down these paths. As someone said, it's the destination you end up at that's important.

A question for you techy guys. Supposing I went for a very relaxed 1.8ohms in one of my Kayfuns using a 2.4 bit, 10 wraps of 28g or 7 wraps of 30g will both get you there. But which would be better taking into account ramp up time etc. I do like the 28 because it is steadier when you want to just re-wick, but would the 30 be better?

What are you powering it with?

Better in what way, flavor or vapor production?

Spaced or contact?

The smaller diameter the wire, the faster the ramp up time. Yet with that in mind, the stronger the mod the less ramp up time is an issue. Look at it this way, if your using an Ego batt to vape your Kayfun, the 30 ga wire will be producing vapor faster than the 28 gauge. But if your using something like an Istick 30, the time difference would never be noticeable between the two sizes of wire.
