I took a long break and it's good to be back.
Unfortunately one of my 'buddies' is gone now. Maybe she'll be back too.
Hate when that happens :(

People don't realize that yeah, we are strangers to an extent, but we are friends. :) We do worry about them when they no longer 'check in'.

Oh ya, the mouse was a good friend to many here on ecf, and then one day POOF .. she was gone. Never hear from WV anymore either. I really miss some of the old time posters that use to haunt these forums.

A few of us are trickling back, though. Like me. Maybe your friends will find their way back here again, soon!

But often at old folks we do some sleuthing and find bad news.

I know what you mean. We've lost three members of the HHV crew. Two of them, we found out about, were because we have searched. The other found out he was dying after he had joined out little group over there. He had such strength and conviction in God it was a marvel to watch him go through all of the processes. I want to be able to say the same if my time comes the way his did.

WHAT? Hours between? Vape sessions? Of what do you speak? I'm awake, I vape.

That was my thought. I'd really love to know, what exactly is a "vape session"? Just sit down and do nothing but vape? Seems rather boring. I vape all thru the day, no matter what I'm doing. If my hands are busy or messy, I may vape less frequently, or at least wait until my hands aren't busy or messy. But take a certain discrete period of time (and yes, that is the correct usage of "discrete" -- for something done on the down-low, people (not you, kat!), it's "discreet"), and do nothing but vape? WHY? Makes no sense to me at all.

I think most of us are the same way, we vape when we feel like it just like we smoked when we felt like it, unless circumstances prevented us. Like what I am about to do, I have 20 pounds of fresh 16/20 count shrimp I bought at work last night I am about to peel. No vaping while doing that!

Don't blame you! I didn't vape while I was smooshing my meatloaf together either -- I even took off my wedding ring, so as not to get any raw meatloaf down in the setting! But once those hands were washed and dried... back to vaping at will. :D And oh yeah, had to put that ring back on. But the vaping came first. :D

Basically yes, when I feel like sitting down on the porch for a few minutes. I take a few puffs, put my PV back in its stand and go back to whatever I was working on. I don't carry it around with me. Right now it's out on the porch and I'm working on a project in the shop.

But it's been, what, 5-6 yrs since you quit smoking? Maybe after 5-6 yrs I won't need to carry mine around either.

On the other hand, my mom quit smoking more than 10 yrs ago (before vaping), and says she still gets cravings. And my stepfather quit more than 25 yrs ago, and says that now and then, with a cup of coffee, he thinks a cigarette would be good. Given the tendency for the habit to hang around like that... not sure I ever want to be too far from my mod.

I vape like I smoked. It's in my hand 24/7. My kids always said that I didn't smoke 2 packs a day, I burned 2 packs a day. IOW always there, always lit. Whether puffing on it or not.

So, even if I'm not vaping, it's always with me and available.

Smoking outdoors only was like swimming under water. Going long periods where stressed and holding your breath with just occasionally catching your breath for a moment. Very unpleasant unless you're doing something SO interesting that it keeps you distracted.

That's why I went thru so many books -- I spent so much time on the porch because of smoking.

That's true but I smoked just like I Vape, occasionally and only in certain circumstances when I felt like it.

I don't think anyone really vapes the way they smoked. For one thing, your vape doesn't burn out and "end" in 5 minutes or so. You can take one hit and stick it back in your pocket, or you can keep it in your hand and puff on it all day. You didn't have that flexibility with cigarettes. Cigarettes have a schedule. Vaping is just the opposite.

I do with vaping what I would have liked to do with cigarettes. Take a few puffs and set it down. It doesn't burn out, and you don't have to put it out and smell it until you light it back up. When I finally quit, I just couldn't believe how bad a cigarette smells when you put it out halfway through. Or how far away it can be smelled. Quitting cigarettes was a real nose opener.

When I smoked, I frequently wanted just a few more puffs, but I didn't want to light up another smoke just to put it out after a few puffs. With vaping, I can just pull it back out of my pocket, take a few more hits, and put it back again. Heck, if smoking were this convenient and flexible, I might never have quit. Still glad I did, though.

I was like DancingHeretik though... I had a cigarette alight every waking minute; went thru 3 pks a day like that, though I probably only smoked two, because just as soon as I started taking it outdoors, my smoking immediately dropped to 2 pks a day. thru the years and the ever-increasing price, I cut down to a pk a day, though sometimes it was 1.5 in nice weather, or less than a pk if extremely hot or cold outdoors. One of the greatest things about vaping to me is that I can do it in my house, any damn time I feel like it -- what liberation! And I do have to refrain from actual "chainvaping" -- if I take more than 3 puffs in a row, I start coughing. But the freedom to carry on with my life *with vape in hand* is so absolutely marvelous, it's really the main thing that interested me at first.
