I think don’t quote me, the radius uses flat tops I think. All others use button tops.
The "old" ProVari 2.5's (and earlier) use button top cells. They're all very special and if you search in the dark corners of vape shops who have been in business for half a decade+, there still exist ancient piles of the 2.5's covered in dust which you can purchase on special sale for only $195 (down from $250)! They actually hold the multiverse together, so it's important that they stay in those piles until the End of Time (or the vape shop closes).

Everything past the P3 (including Radius, Procyon, etc) all use flat top or button top. It's just the VV ProVari's that lack VW which require the button top cells.

You can run a P3 in 18350 mode with flat-top batteries just fine, I always still have one or two in rotation, everything else is mostly Dicodes; ProVari's are all in storage since switching to TC and discovering Dicodes was a lot better (and smaller) than ProVari about a year+ before ProVape closed down.

Can't watch it on my hot spot connection speed. Would take me a couple hours at least. Will go to FB though and check it out.

ETA: They must be located elsewhere, as their phone number has an international prefix. I may just check with a couple guys I know locally who do leatherwork. I used to years ago, and still have a bunch of leather and my tools, so who knows. Never dawned on me to even try making PV covers myself.

You prefer your dicodes over a radius?

Just got home with my button top battery adapters.

I don't see how they would work without a wrap to hold them in place. The round plastic piece that the metal pin goes through is the same diameter as the battery. Actually seems to be a hair wider. The metal pin sticks out above and below, so if you sit it on top of a battery the plastic part is suspended about a 1/16th above the top of the battery. It's wobbly and unstable and I think they would be hard to get in and out of the mod without a wrap to hold them in place.

Quite long too. The metal part is shaped like a rivet. A thin rod in the middle with a mushroom shaped piece on either end. The distance between the end parts is probably around 1/8th, a lot more than the thickness of the plastic piece, so the pin has a lot of movement.

I just got some Samsung 18650's with added button tops from Liion. They were longer than the old AW button tops. A regular flat top with these adaptors on is longer still. Maybe I'll get around to rewrapping a battery and trying it out. It should work fine, the Provari has plenty of spring.

About button tops, outside of those adapters, there are a bunch of ways to accomplish it:

- dripping a blob of solder directly on the cap. If one has a soldering iron and a bit of flux, pretty easy and cheap.

- making your own adapters, using a brass rivet as previously discussed, or using fiber washers - here's an example using magnets but it could be a piece of wire or whatever conductive stuff you have
Low tech solution: modifying flat top 18650 batteries to work in Zebralight SC600

- rewrapping with button tops, getting the tops, washers and wraps from fasttech - What is your favorite method of converting flat top batteries to button top? | BudgetLightForum.com

- finding one of the battery shops and having a technician add a button - I found a local one that can do it, about $5, less if you do a bunch, while you wait

As I plan on having a ProVari 2.5 within reach for the foreseeable future, I had to do some homework to make sure all is well. Between the non-AW brands in all three sizes and these options, I'm feeling pretty comfortable. In the meantime, my stock of Efest and AW should hold for a couple years.

I bought some AAAA NiMH (size not a typo) 270mah. In order to fit into my Dell ST Tablet's stylus, the battery wraps had to be removed. Yeah I am running AAAA cells without battery wraps. Anyway worse they are flat tops. But the seller glued tiny disc shaped magnets on the flat tops. So now they are button tops which are needed for the stylus to work. Don't know how many amps you could push through magnets, but maybe Mooch might know. I know Mooch knows about using magnets to charge cells with alligator clips to clip to the ends of the cells.

You would think so NolaMel, but I think it is super glue. And I think the magnetic squeezes the glue out by the sides. Of course those AAAA are tiny and so are those magnets. You could use larger magnets and not even use glue at all. But you would have to be very careful that it doesn't move and short something that it isn't suppose to of course.

That was cool stuff. I copy pasted the second page for reference.

I've got 6 batteries sitting in the box taped up waiting to be recycled. Think I'll practice my soldering skills. If I can master that perfect solder dome it would definitely be the way to go. The magnet in a fiber washer looks good as well.

Do you know what kind of solder wire was used?

If it’s like stained glass, get a drop on your iron and touch quickly to the point you want to leave the dot. I wonder if you have to flux to get it to adhere? All I saw in another site was to file the battery top a bit.
