@bnrk, it says that food safe doesn’t change flavors or release odors though. The squonk bottles in question do.

There’s also the factor of the additives that make the bottle change colors when pinched. I’d like to know what those are.

I’m not trying to be a pia, just suggesting maybe if you have a bottle that could be questionable it may be good to switch it out if for nothing else peace of mind. They’re pretty cheap, for the Pico 2 they were letting them go for 19 cents.

I have questions. Get yer facepalms ready ya’ll. I’m about to be “that guy”.

First off, lovely neck accessory in that video, absolutely fabulous. But, is what he’s saying true about the pinch test and if it turns white it’s because of unnamed additives? Anyone know off hand what those additives would be?

I’ve been squonk obsessed for about two months now and this is something I’ve noticed is people talking about the bottle tainting their juices and has been a legit concern of mine. Personally I don’t think it falls into the same category as an o-ring because your juice isn’t stewing in an o-ring so the exposure is still there but at a different rate as evidenced by it not tainting juice flavor. I don’t know if silicone is even an issue but in addition to figuring that out I’d like to know what the additives are. They put funky stuff in some plastics, you all will probably remember the great BPA talks of days past and nothing personal but China has a bit of a track record with using less than ideal ingredients.

I’m not saying we should sound the alarms, I do breathe questionable air (and drive so guilty of making it) and drink water from the tap but a lot of that is out of my hands. But as a person familiar with questionable habits and that understands how consequences can add up, it seems reasonable to cut out blatantly obvious ones especially if it can be done at really no compromise.

I don’t know who homeboy is in the video, don’t know what he stands for or how well he does it but, you know what I’m saying? It’s making juice taste funky, that means it’s getting to your senses and that brings a bit of a hesitation to my step, largely because I don’t understand the topic so it could very well be nothing.

Again, sorry for being “that guy” but my gut tells me maybe it’s not something to be dismissed simply because I’ve done far worse stuff too myself. vaping is still sorta “wild west” in terms of people keeping an eye on what’s going on and that can lead to problems when stuff is made by the lowest bidder. I can see that post got 6 agrees though so I’m probably not going to make any friends posting this.

You could always go over to google scholar and type a few different search phrases into the search bar and spend time reading papers about the subject.
You might find peace of mind or you might not.

If they are food grade, then I'm not going to worry.

I don't squonk, but a couple of thoughts:
  1. I'd never trust anyone with that facial hair
  2. I'd never trust anyone who wears an ascot
  3. I'd never trust anyone who wears an ascot with a sweat jacket
  4. I trust him a little more because I like the Boris Vallejo art on the wall
  5. I trust him even a little more because I like the J. Geils inspired relief art on the wall
  6. If it makes the juice taste funny, throw it away and use a different kind
  7. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it
  8. For God's sake, keep the silicone bottles away from boobs. Silicone and boobs do not go well together. Silicone+boobs=carcinogens. Save the boobs!

Probably not, this world is frightening. I’d have to know exactly what those bottles are made of to get any sort of focused conclusion, it’s the additive factor that caught my eye.

Everything:thumb:. And for God’s sake people, save the boobs.

What is wrong with aluminum pots and pans? First, I have been using a double space between sentences and find out I am all wrong and now aluminum.Eeek, always something.

First, if you do use aluminum then you are going to die. However, if you avoid aluminum as if it were a plague then you are going to die.
There was something going around and "studies suggested" that aluminum leaching into food through cookware was a factor in developing Alzheimer's. I have no opinion and am without sufficient knowledge or information upon which to base a belief as to the truth or falsity of that claim.
