Nahhhh. They didn't forget me. They said they didn't invite me because it would have been an odd number of people, which would have been inconvenient! They did, however, ask me to feed the cats. Which I did. Can't take it out on the poor cats.

I spend Christmas alone. Im usually ba-humbug about the whole thing since my son has grown. Nobody in my family exchanges gifts or gathers so its a bummer and seeing the holly and jolly typically puts me in a bad mood anymore from remembering when we used to do things. My family sucks.

We have "Christmas Eve Eve" with my adult children, they spend the night (my son also has 3 kids), we watch xmas movies. Then Christmas Eve Day we have a big breakfast and open presents. Then Xmas eve we go to my wife's family party (a ton of people), that is where the Clonazepam comes in, mixed with a little bit of whiskey. Then Xmas day my wife and I just relax all day and then go to my son's place for dinner (he makes Prime Rib).

EDIT: Honestly, the Prime Rib is the highlight for me out of all of that. lol

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
Both of our families are 500 miles away,, my husband wont travel during holidays because every clown is on the road. So we go to see everyone between Thanksgiving and Christmas,, my family tends to be be very sweet and welcoming to anyone who shows up,,, his family is like visiting a circus,,, this year my parents did something that really annoyed everyone,,, all dinner plans made weeks ahead of time so the young adults would be sure to schedule (18-21),,, at the last minute my parents announced they don't eat after 5 & dont drive,, at the lunch we were having with them. They told us to meet up with the rest of the family the next day without them. This really made me mad,,, rarely am I mad at my family.. so the next day we met up with my sister & (+18+21),,, what's up with mom & pops?,,,, She doesn't know,,, she said they have been doing odd things like that for awhile,,,, I said if its maybe the risk of driving at night,,, we can drive them,,, they said they don't want to eat late,,,. Ok,,, so when we meet up with everyone next summer,, she & I are planning lunches not dinner with them... With a plan for driving them or bringing all of the food to them,, I think they are getting afraid to leave the house. - dad seems to have cut ties with some in their social group... Real shame cause Mom really enjoys social interaction.

Turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving, and then ham for Christmas. My parents are getting older but they still treat us like kids. So we all have our Christmas mornings at home with our children, then quickly head to Mom’s for lunch and more presents. I get to wrap all those gifts today for Mom (and my son’s). My back will hurt tonight. :vapor: I love Christmas evening when we are back home and comfortable with my son putting together his annual LEGO sets on the coffee table. Day after? It all comes down and my house back to normal.

Families can sometimes cut us the deepest. I just throw on my happiness bubble and stay away from pins.

    Somewhere between here and there
We have presents with our two daughters on Xmas morning. The oldest finished college this summer and is moving with her boyfriend in a few weeks so this may be the last time we have both home on Xmas morning. The youngest just started college and is home on break so I would expect her to be there at least the next few years. Later in the afternoon we go to the outlaws house to open presents. My wife and I both think it's ridiculous to still be exchanging gifts with her family but they won't stop and we don't want to be the black sheep. The outlaws house is small and its very cramped and uncomfortable in their living room opening presents with everyone but we have survived it many years. Last year we had Xmas at our house with her family and it was much better. I wish we were doing it again this year.

I do love my decorations though. Most are sentimental. It looks like Christmas threw up in here. Seven trees, mantle, every room has something Christmasy. I go all out and start early but I’m also glad when it’s all put away. My favorite is my Santa Claus that sings “y’all ready for this” and dances and turns around and shakes his booty. My Dad laughs until he cries.

My wife is the same way.... (half the friggin storage space in our garage is taken up by bins of Xmas decorations... uggh) If it were up to me I would just put one green and one red flood light focusing on the front of the house and then a cheap small fake tree and be done with it.

Sounds like our Christmas mornings. My family won’t stop the exchanging of gifts either. I think I bought 28 gifts for me to give including my son, and I bought probably 60 or more gifts for Mom to give everyone. o_O Crazy town. I’m gonna count them as I wrap them today.
