I’m going to begin the task of separating my mods and atties plus accessories like coils into a stash for future use.

I was curious as to how people are deciding what goes in the stash and what doesn’t. I mean all my stabwoods I use plus several dual and single battery mods I use often. Others I hardly use at all.

So do I put the cheaper gear in the stash with a few nicer devices too? Same with atties. I use almost all my atties.

And should I open every mod to see if it works? I kinda hate doing that especially if I end up selling any of them.

Thoughts would be helpful.

I tested all the mods. If I sell any, I’ll say whether they were just tested or used, and about how much use. I have duplicates of my atties, about half are open and in use. The ones I haven’t used I haven’t opened. I will, eventually, open and disassemble them, but I think they’ll be okay like that for a bit, in case I want to sell any of them.

Everything I want to use, I use. I store the rest. Life is too short and unpredictable to save stuff for later.

No ello RBA yet?

Found in an old Reddit conversation...that the Smok V8 Baby Beast RBA is supposed to work on it. Also, since the Ello uses the HW series of coils, an RBA for tanks that also use those might work (check a coil compatibility chart for them)...though height might be an issue for some of them.

Bingo! After more searching...there's an Eleaf ERL RBA head that's for the Ello. Google results show they're available on FT, but I didn't check to see if they still are or not.

Is there reason to (barring things like dropping or juice spills Etc) believe that a mod that has never been taken out of the box not even for testing will last longer and have a longer overall lifespan once actually put into use than one that has been tested and then put away back in its box? Should I be storing the boxes they came in on an airtight bag, ziplock or something? I would hate to get around to some of the mods I've tested (external battery of course) in three years and find out that they've gone bad sitting on a shelf not being used. I hope I haven't made a mistake and honestly I don't trust mods to arrive working and I figure I only have so long to take advantage of a replacement. I never thought that perhaps never using them would somehow increase their future life

Well obviously not using them regularly to begin with and putting off their "start date" should make them last longer. But if you are talking about simply testing them, then there should be no difference.

For storage I am leaving them in their original boxes and then putting them in a ziploc bag with silica gel packets.

Well...Great News! Joe just called me back to tell me how things will be handled, for those of us who'd ordered the ECR heads recently, and thought we'd be getting 5 heads for each quantity of 1. IF you ordered these after I posted about them last week...please PM me for the instructions he gave me to pass along to you. You will get your full quantity of what you thought you'd receive. :)

That sounds good but HOW do you store them? Mods in one container? Atties and extra glass and drop in coils in another? I’ve got at least one or two extra atties I like plus some mods too.

How do you decide which mods you won’t want to use at some point? I have several mods I know I won’t use like the Exus Ark and a Charon.

What are you storing them in? I’m overflowing with vape stuff and I haven’t even received everything I just purchased!!

I’m trying not to reinvent to wheel but asking you guys!

Great guess I'll get the erl, I thought it was too big but maybe not! I checked and erl fits Melo RT 25 tank, I have not found it fitting the ello duro anywhere yet

The last year before the vaping “epidemic” issue brought me back to ECF and back again to stocking up, I had stopped using many mods at once like I had when I worked at a vape shop (until May 2018). Through til September 2019 I used four mods - my Geekvape mod lasted a year and died, so I pulled out the Therion DNA from the drawer and put it back into rotation with a couple other devices specifically for my MTL tanks. So, for me, I didn’t have that many being used at once as I had in the past.

So since stocking up again, the only mods I have bought for present-day use are the MVP3 (MTL), MVP5 (an indulgence), and the Topside 90w as I wanted to get back into the swing of squonking before eventually moving fully into mechanical squonks for DL (after my present-use mods die and, presumably, deeming pushes out easy access to new, regulated mods).

The vast majority of what I have bought since Sept 2019 has gone into the stash box. I haven’t checked them. I, too, am riding on the edge of the knife lol. But what I am not going to do is start bringing my stash into present-day rotation. I figure the first mods I will begin to work through will be the Lunas for squonking. When my Therion and MVPs finally die, I will move to the Squid DB for my Brunhilde or KF2019. Likely I will use a Jackaroo for Serpent Elevate or other RTAs.

I am not feeling 100% secure in regulated, high-wattage devices. Last night on the Shiny thread @AvaOrchid (I believe) mentioned Asmodus had a Lustro for $25 with free ship so I bought one. It was impulse but a good deal, IMO. Realistically l have no idea how long to expect these devices to last. I feel that in the end it will boil down to my REOs and I can only hope I bought enough replacement parts to make them last.

I’m probably a bit older than you and I have about 50 mods at this point but that includes all my stabwoods which I use daily so I’m not worried about a couple crapping out like you may be.

I’m just trying to decide of all my non stabwoods how do I decide to stay or not to stash. I will mention that at any given time I have 8-9 mods in rotation then swap out when I’m looking to play with something else.

I have mods and drop in coils in my vape storage bench. Provari's have their own drawer as do RTA's and Squonkers & RDA's. I had to separate things so I know where things are. I also have a drawer for odds and ends, chargers, batts, pods, cotton rayon etc.

Initially I was planning on focusing on using up all of my junk, crappy, older product and saving the better stuff for later... But now I am thinking of saving the junk for later considering I will never get through all of the stuff I have and the junk could just be considered an emergency backup. But regardless of which way I go, I am focusing on using up all of my built-in battery mods first as they will be junk in 3-5 years or so whether I use them or not.

I’m the kind of person who eats their dessert first in case I die before getting to dinner. I’d rather enjoy the things I like best just in case. So I think that’s the route I’ll go.

Besides I’ll probably be 80yrs old by the time I get to the cheaper products.

Thanks.

I appreciate everyone’s thoughts on what to put in their stash etc it’s been really helpful.

next question what are you using as containers? I’ve got a few plastic containers with snap on lids and I’m going to find those little pouches of absorb or whatever they’re called.

Thanks.

I bought a double door locking storage cabinet. All my vape stuff will be organized in there as well as documented on spreadsheets. I have been putting a bit of tape and labeling things like all the coils that work with a tank and all the tanks that work with the coil. I also label which RDA's have included squonk pins and which squonk bottles work with which mods. Small bits and bobs are going in plastic shoeboxes which are labeled with what they contain and put on the bottom shelf.

I always have 5-10 mods in current circulation. I am focusing on killing my internal battery mods (2 penguins) and the 2 large 2 battery mods I really don't like first. I am doing rebuildable attys as much as possible while I am able to build.

I am planning to clean up my REO's and put them away for the long haul as they are nearly indestructible.

I am keeping on of my SXK BB's out because I just love it. I will also keep out the pulse bf 80, the luxotic and the one luna I have setup.

I put my ancient KBox mini setup over by the couch. I have my solo setup in the kitchen.

Everything else is going to be put away.

Let me add one thing. I have to be ultra organized with this as I am looking at eye surgery in the not too distant future and will be relying on my non-vaper husband to handle things like changing drop in coils and possibly filling tanks for a time. Having everything organized and labeled clearly will make it much easier for both of us.

I have a big plastic container I got at WalMart with a snap-on lid that holds 51 regulated mods I have in storage. All my RTAs are in a spare dresser drawer. Bits and bobs are in smaller plastic containers. The plastic containers can be stored in a closet or wherever. I currently rotate through 4 dual battery mods and 3 single battery mods. For the most part, my idea was to use the ones I have out until they die and then pull out some of the others, though I do have a couple newer ones out that I really like. The problem, though, is that these older mods just won't die. :D I'm still vaping on an iStick 100 I think I got in 2014, plus a Cuboid and RX200 I think I got in 2015. I'll have to change my system if these are still working in another 5 years.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Eleaf ERL RBA head that's for the Ello

The research I did a few weeks ago resulted in concluding that the ERL RBA only works on the Mello tanks, but not the Ello. The form-factors are very different.

That is what I read on 2 different forums and studying compatibility charts.

Because the coils of the Mello and Ello are not cross-compatible (according to the compatibility charts I came across), I figure that it's probably true true that the ERL RBA does not fit/work in the Ello.

But YMMV.

I have one fasttech package that was delivered to the Shenzen airport on December 1st, no tracking information after that. How long would y'all wait before opening a ticket on this order? I've placed dozens of orders over the years with fasttech, always recieved what I've ordered before, and am willing to wait. I have heard of things getting lost in the mail occasionally though, so I thought this was a good question to ask.

If what I read here is right https://www.fda.gov/media/133880/download we MIGHT be ok ordering until the May 2020 cutoff BUT (Note the HUGE BUT) FDA is stating multiple times they can shut down anything that was brought to market after the deeming date (I believe 2016) anytime they like. And they will if in there judgement there is a problem. Seizing goods at customs is specifically mentioned as a possibility. This new doc goes into effect in 30 days.

I personally am calling it done for anything shipped from overseas right here and now as it often takes 30 days to get into country.

Within US orders for me will be a case by case and NOTHING will be ordered 30 days from now.

Read it for yourself. This is my interpretation of the gobbledy goop often contradictory language so take with as many grains of salt as you like.
