Thanks. I always had a problem with that tank with dry hits with 50/50. My preferred vape is around 1.2ohm anywhere from 12-15W..
I ended up taking a dremmel to the juice chambers to widen them a bit. Made the try hits almost go away, but not completely. Would have to dremmel it more, but I got tired of it, put it away for a rainy day and never went back to it.
I ask now because it's on sale for almost nothing these days. But I'm on the fence about it because...
1) I really hate doing the dremmel job on that tank and
2) I also hate the coil mounting system.
But I may get a couple more just for kicks for the ridiculous prices.
BTW: I love the subtank mini (and the Protank 4). Favorite tank ever. I wish the STM were available for the prices the Lemo 2 is going for lol.
I was never tempted to dremel it
Mostly because i never had access to a dremmel
How do you build and wick it is the question
Heres how ive done it for nearly 5 years now:
Step 1) Never use the post holes, i wrap around the deck screws....which i quickly swapped out for some hex screws "the screws of destiny" from a shop in the UK, still only on my second set of hex screws when i lost my original Lemo 2 the other day....and i used to crank them down for TC sweetness. This was the first tank i used TC on..nickel days, i dont miss those...
Step 2) 7 or 8 wraps, on 3mm ID, its the golden ratio for a coil imho. Lemo 2 came with that coil, i just rinsed and repeated for nearly 5 years....
Step 3) Wrap leg ends around deck screws once and tighten, doesnt have to be a mental amount for non-TC modes
Step 4) Cut up some wicking material of your choice and feed through coil
Step 5) Lay side of scissors (cutting blade) flat on deck base (i,.e. blade is resting on deck, perpendicular to the raised deck), above juice channels, fold wick over edge of scissor blade and chop off, repeat on other side. Gets you the perfect length coil tails every damn time. I could rewick mine blindfolded these days
Step 6) Wet wick enough to coax into place, away from threads and into place. Do not soak the wick, you may (probably will) end up with way too much juice in the deck and wick if you put too much in at this point and then fill the tank, meaning it will likely gurgle or leak, take your pick. Once you have too much juice in their the only way to clear it effectively (because any tooting on it will likely just reinforce the juice oversupply) is to hold the tank upside down on mod and flick sharply, issuing excess juice from the chimney. Remember, once the build is in and you've filled up, you arent getting access to it again until its empty or you syringe your juice out of the tank....kids are so spoiled these days with tanks that give you access to the build deck without emptying...
Step 7) Screw chimney base on, slowly, backwinding at first to help stop wick from binding in threads. If you get any excess juice leaking for the juice ports at this stage, my top tip is youve put too much on the wick, and you should probably get a bit of paper towel and blot the coil and wick gently until no more leakies out of the juice ports, its far easier to get juice out before it becames an issue, than it is to get out once it has
Step 8) Probably the best tip of all: once the chimney base goes one...get tiny tiny screwdriver, or offcut of coil wire will do, and poke it down outside of wick until you hit the juice hole (not pushing wick down by doing so, think more of creating a small void on the outside of the wick tail). Using same screwdriver or wire, check and move any of the wick away from the sides of the raised deck. Check outside of wick tail for small void.
Step 9) Put glass on and screw top of tank onto chimney. Never overtighten, you will deform the flat oring seal which will pinch off the juice holes
Step 10) Fill, wait 5 minutes (or primer puff) and vape
It sounds a lot, and sounds like it has a lot of peculiarities, but i dont suffer fussy tanks, so its because im making points to look for to improve things, not shortcomings. Get it right once and its still arguably the best tank ive ever owned.
My Lemo 2 love runs deep, hence why it was the only tank i kept when i gave up vaping for a while.
Its also the only tank i remember seeing infuriate Phil Busardo. I remember his review, worst one he ever did. I remember going to my 2nd ever vape meet and sitting down with my mate, the first vaper i ever met, who once was the biggest Lemo 2 fiend i ever met and seeing that review over and over on replay on the monitor at the vape shop as we shook our heads and until we couldnt deal with Phil any longer, carrying on about how difficult it was to fill and getting juice everywhere. Go watch it, its a total dummyspit. Meanwhile my mate and i are giving people demos of how easy it is, dumping dropper fulls of juice in there without spilling a drop.
Years later i got to have a convo with the great man via email over some underhanded crap by JoyeTech and wanted to send proof of such to him in case no one would believe me. Anyways he was funny and warm as you'd hope, but he was unwilling to even speak to me about the Lemo 2

I said something like, "Phil, i feel i have to mention this, im a huge Lemo 2 fan, have been for years, only video of yours i cant watch....why such a hate post of a review on that one?"
