That was a very, very rudimentary explanation of the CBT triangle and a) it is possible (for me at least) to hold two contradictory (or even more) thoughts at once, thoughts do not SOELY determine feelings, then actions, you can intervene at any point, not to mention beliefs, brain chemistry, self care and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I'm happy that YOU were able to live in the time you did and amass vape gear, as I am happy for myself, as well. I'm also happy I did not live in the times where I would have been given a frontal lobotomy instead of psych meds and lived my life inside an institution. I am sure further on down the line, people will be very grateful genetic errors can be fixed in a MUCH less rudimentary way than mere pills. Or whatever.
But look, YEAH we can be happy, we can be sad. We can be ambivalent. We can have a keen sense of social justice and societal injustice, we can be warriors for a cause or we can sit at home and feel "glad" that "I have what *I* need to be happy."
I'm glad you are feeling so unabashedly chipper.
Were I to feel that way, entirely, I believe I would have concerns about my *values* and *priorities" frankly.
Of course, often those with the least, give the most. Life is interesting that way. People would be shocked (actually ESPECIALLY when I was making the most money) that I had a prize box for kids getting immunizations. It wasn't always cheap, either, even though the prizes were not diamond rings, if I took a kid down there and there were 10 kids, well, they all got prizes, because I am not one to be like, "Oooh I met with you and your family and the other ones didn't."
I had a woman who tried to do the same thing, but she quickly found how annoying it was to go to the dollar store/party outlet every week, especially when she was told no, she would not be reimbursed.
I've tried to do that with every population I have worked with, because they deserve it. That little "extra mile" matters, whether the family can "afford it on their own" or not.
If there is no outrage whatsoever on your part, I'm a bit surprised. I mean, it's up to you but I don't really WANT to be the one playing the violin while Rome burns. Not to tear you a new one or anything. That sort of thinking is JUST reductionist if you ask me or kind of a mask over the whole thing. If anyone is super thrilled deeming arrived. I'm a bit shocked, although sure, I am also not going to slit my wrists over it and have also continued to give away equipment to new vapers. I'm pretty sure I will be okay.
