I got hit a few months back.I made a small purchase of less than $20,and then someone racked up about $100 of free rides through Lyft before my card company realized it wasn't me.It got taken care of,but still a big hassle for a few drip tips haha.It was a new card, and the first time i used it was this purchase,so anyone buying watch your statement if you buy from 101.Ack, had CC fraud after buying vape stuff last week! All taken care of thankfully and they caught it.
Funny but I had Lyft charges when I got hacked a couple months ago. That was the second time this year, shortly after purchase made at domestic Vape sites.I got hit a few months back.I made a small purchase of less than $20,and then someone racked up about $100 of free rides through Lyft before my card company realized it wasn't me.It got taken care of,but still a big hassle for a few drip tips haha.It was a new card, and the first time i used it was this purchase,so anyone buying watch your statement if you buy from 101.
It only takes one unscrupulous employee.I'm not sure where it happened but I used Misthub, Ejuices and kangerwholesale, usually these are safe, so who knows!
True, but in my case,it was a new card i had just received, and was only used 1 time,so it was pretty obvious where it happened from. Also remember your info could have been stolen MONTHS ago and only now used. So really it could have happened anywhere.
Agreed. Just pointing out for others it isn't always the most recent purchases.True, but in my case,it was a new card i had just received, and was only used 1 time,so it was pretty obvious where it happened from.
Yeah,i think sometimes they probably grab a bunch of numbers at once, then either sell them off or take their time working through them all,as i have seen several times people getting hit months after using their cards,Mine was very fast though, first charge was just a few hours after i used it.Being that fast,i am guessing either an employee at that shop or at the cc processing place were probably who got it,and then grabbed a ride home haha, whoever it was though, once they seen it worked, took several rides over about 3 days before the card company finally realized i'm in Ohio and was racking up Lyft charges in California.Agreed. Just pointing out for others it isn't always the most recent purchases.
I made one purchase 2 years ago on a brand new card and then didn't touch it for 6 months. Out of the blue someone tried to charge $6000 in Limo rentals on it. Yeah the bank caught it and it didn't hurt me but dang they held off a LONG time on that one.
They pluck the info off the internet and not necessarily at a vape shop or anything to do with a vape shop.True, but in my case,it was a new card i had just received, and was only used 1 time,so it was pretty obvious where it happened from.
The deep web is full of stolen credit card info. They are stolen from compromised databases and security holes all over the place, including at the banks and with the service providers they use.
Nothing is truly 100% secure.
I don't think any of my cards have that option, but i am definitely going to check and see if they do.I got hacked so many times! I finally started using my cc’s virtual number generator for all online purchases. It’s a one-time use number that is tied to my main account. You can even put a dollar amount limit for the virtual number so it can’t be used past that amount, and you can also set a date.
I used it so much lately for vape stocking that my cc company added another layer of security by texting me a code for me to input before generating a new virtual number.
I haven’t been hacked since I started using it.
