I am wondering how many people took up vaping in order to quit analogs and now wish to quit vaping but can't

I must say that I started with this with a view to quitting altogether but wonder if I have just changed one bad habit for another (less unhealthy) but bad habit.

Your views will be interesting.

Personally I didn't take up vaping to quit analogs, but mostly just out of curiosity. Also I was hoping maybe vaping might help me smoke a bit less, but didn't really expect it to. Amazingly it did, and I dropped from about 30 cigs a day to 6 or 8 without even trying.

That was a little over 6 months ago I believe, & it's still about where I am today. I vape all I want (mostly around 3.5% nic) & smoke a hand-rolled cig or a pipe when I want one. No pressure, no guilt. If/when I reach a point where my urge to *not* smoke is consistently greater than my urge to smoke, I will smoke no more. Vaping has given me a hope that will happen eventually but alas, it hasn't happened yet. OTOH I am much healthier than I was just by smoking so much less than I was. After nearly half a century of smoking, if I do put tobacco down entirely I can't imagine looking at vaping as a "bad habit" at all. I mean, I've had lots of habits of various degrees of "badness" all my life. When I was a little boy I got into the habit of picking flowers on my walk home from school every day. Compared to some of my other habits, the relative "badness" of vaping would probably place it alongside that old flower-picking habit I used to have.

To those of you who have replaced smoking with vaping I offer my most sincere & hearty congratulations, and to those who are working on it, don't be discouraged. We tend to pursue those things we most desire until we attain them. Blessings to all, and Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Hah, I just recently bought into the vaping experience. I haven't quit smoking yet, but my REO Grand is on it's way, and when I get it I intend to never smoke another cigarette again. I told my mom I was quitting and that I was going this route and her first question was, "When are you going to quit smoking the ecig?"

"Jesus, mom, it isn't that easy!"

But I will do as others have done and tone down the nic content until I no longer feel like I desire it. Honestly I may continue vaping after that anyways at 0 mg. I find it relaxing (course that may be the nicotine talking). but if you find a flavor you enjoy I don't see why it couldn't become an after dinner thing to satisfy that sweet tooth you always had also, right?

Welcome to ECF & Congratulations on your decision! I expect you'll look back on it as the best decision you ever made. Also congrats on your choice for a PV... I've never vaped one but the REO Grand is high on my list of potential upgrades.

I'm no poster boy for vaping (or anything else) and I know dealing with close family members (especially moms) can be particularly touchy sometimes, but I think the best approach with non-smokers is to try & see things from their uninformed point of view. Then, assuming they know absolutely nothing about the subject and worse, probably have picked up reams of mis-information to be refuted, we can lovingly & patiently explain what these things actually are - and *aren't*.

Oh, & for the record, you'll never *start* smoking your e-cig ('cause it ain't smoke), you'll start vaping your PV. As to nic level, some (a very few, I gather) people find they don't even need the nicotine. Most folks who care to reduce the level do so at a pace with which they are comfortable. A good many continue to vape at 0 nic purely for pleasure, others raise Gerbils. (In other words, there are no rules... just whatever works *for you*)

Best of luck... Blessings from my cave, & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I personally do not EVER plan on quitting but, let me explane this. i think that vaping is such a wonderful thing and i want to tell everyone what it has done for the health of all of us ex smokers and the countless benifits it can and will have on so many others. One day i hope to have a brick and mortar shop of my own so that i can further the publics knoledge of vaping and help lead the movement to turn vaping into the future of nicotine inhalation!!
