Good morning, afternoon, or evening ECF'ers. A few days ago I received the updated Ares-2 LE from Innokin as a result of a contest win. Today I thought I would share some of my thoughts as well as some images of the newly designed RTA.
As many of you know, the original Ares-2 came out a few months ago, and the LE is supposed to be an update on the aesthetics of the atomizer. With that in mind, I won't be going into too much detail about the technical aspects, because that has been covered already. I will mainly focus on the new design.
I received both the Onyx and the Flint shades of the Ares LE. I must say that right off the bat, I noticed the finish of the RTA was much improved. It has a more matte look to it, which I personally find preferable to the shinier finish of the previous design. Also, the base no longer has the etched ridges as before. Everything is smooth and minimalist in design.
Another change, and what I consider to be an improvement over the original, is there is much less branding on the atomizer. The markings on the bell now just include a subtle "Ares" on one side, and "LE" on the other.
Innokin made another significant change to the RTA in regards to the drip tip design. It is now metal with a ultem tip. I am generally not a fan of metal drip tips due to a constant fear of accidentally chipping my teeth on them. However the ultem covered tip has alleviated any concern for that occurring. The new drip tip looks great in my opinion.
That about covers it when it comes to the major changes with the Ares-2 LE. As before, the Ares 2 performs well, is easy to build on, and does not have any leaking issues. That said, if you for some reason didn't care for the original Ares 2, then tough luck. You probably aren't going to like this one either. But if you did like the Ares 2, or are in the market for an easy to use and reliable MTL RTA that looks good, I would recommend giving this a shot.
I want to thank @Innokin_timmy for setting up the giveaway and sending these out to me. I also want to thank whoever decides to actually read this. To make up for any run-on sentences or poor quality images, here is a picture of a dog riding a bicycle.
