I was right there with you NCC, I hadn't seen the 306 carto's either. I would be very interested in a 306 atty drip tip. :D
I hadn't heard of it before it came up on the custom order list. Now I own 5 of 'em and I like them for my bottom feeder device from Old Goat mods.

Nice video Bert.
Hey what size tubing are you using?
I did a few tips with rod - still having a problem getting every tip to fit perfect so yup I am still working on it lol.
I may have to go over to the dark side and use tubing to get it perfect every time.
Now where did I put my boro glasses lol.
Very nice work Bert keep it up.
Hugs

I can only speculate that the 306 atty is ever so slightly cone shaped. I've had 306 attys from several manufacturers. Used with the same pyrex DT, which seems to slide further down one atty than on the other. But, it doesn't leak on either one.

OTOH, I don't have any means by which to make such precise measurements, so it's only speculation on my part. Just can't think of any other explanation.

I lost my Pyrex tip somewhere in the Smoky Mountains this weekend :( Can't wait to get my trippy tips!!! :D

For those of you who have received them already....do they fall off your PV very easily??
Cricket,
I came across this video recently and it made me remember your situation. It also deals with different sized atties.

I pull my own tubing to get it just right every time. I recommend a nice pair of digital calipers.

Ok, NCC park at the first parking area you come to and follow the trail to the shelter. I bet it(was) somewhere around there. I was so frustrated at the time I didn't even bother looking for it. We were already getting on the trail 3 hours later than we wanted to so....

But it's really pretty up there, we had a great time. :) We will be going again next year, but will probably wait until September or so.

I've been doing research on the 306 drip tip, and from what I hear the different companies that make them use different diameters for the base, which means I need to find the "Perfect" inner diameter for the tube that will fit over the atties from all the different companies. I have one 306 atty on hand, and a tube that fits it perfectly which means that if they are standardized between the different companies I could start producing them now. Can anyone verify or debunk the notion of different companies using different sizes for 306 atties? I have some unique ideas to make really beautiful and extremely FUNctional tips for the 306, but I need to solve this mystery before I can proceed.

Bert, I have a sense this is true, but sorry, no facts. I do know that I have a couple of 306 tips and a few (various vendor) 306 attys. Some tips will not slide all the way down, or fit properly over all 306 attys. Generally, they do not slide down all the way with the generic or the Joye 306 attys.

I guess I missed this post last night Bert. Yes, the sizes of 306's vary. I have an IKV HV 306 that my pyrex tip goes further down on than say, my SR 306 (can't remember what make). I also have a Bauway LR 306 and the pyrex doesn't go down very far but there is no leakage at all. You kind of have to shimmy the tip on the atty. I tell you, if I had two of the 306 tips, or even if I had my Trippy Tips, I would send you my pyrex and my IKV HV 306 atty so you could study it. But I really like my glass :lo: It would be hard to give it up at the moment.

If you have not had the chance to work on it by the time I do get my tips I will happily send you everything :)

Yes, as everyone has said-they are just a tad bit off from one another in diameter. The best way to make the bottom is to taper the neck that starts the slide onto the base and widen down ever so slightly. As long as the glass grips the base at the coil area and seals-there will be no leaks and sealing at that point guarantees the coil stays wet.

YES. They most definitately are different sizes. In fact, I have mangled a few 306 attys just removing a dt that didn't fit properly. Pulled the entire atty apart. Happened twice. I've also had DT's fall off, because they were too big. So they vary in size quite a bit.
