Arty wire from the store

Has anyone ever done this? I've read organic cotton wick works. I want to experiment rebuilding tomorrow while I wait for the repair guy. Any help appreciated

You can use cotton balls, just pull it apart and mold it into a wick. Also you can use cotton or bamboo thread, just make sure is not bleached or colored. They sell a 100% natural cotton Peaches & Cream brand at walmart. Taste is good, but just remember that you can´t dry burn with cotton, so if your juice gunks up coils, you will be replacing the wicks often (It´s cheap, so it´s no biggie).

I wouldn't use art wire from a craft store. Being an electronically ignorant person I wouldn't trust how they would perform under the electrical load or what they would vent when heated. Kanthal wire can be obtained cheaply and quickly from TEMCO on eBay. $6 for 100 ft.

Thanks for the wick tip! Didnt know i could use a cotton ball.

I've read around online about using silver jewelry wire (not silver plated) has anyone done this before?

Silver is non resistance wire. It's only used for legs to the coil in certain builds. You want kanthal resistance wire.

Just to add. No Resistance wire between the two posts = 0 Ω = hard short. The wire will probably pop and break circuit hopefully before anything bad can happen, but still, not recommended.

ETA: You want Kanthal for resistance wire, not silver.
