Mom fell and broke her arm in 2 places two days ago and I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to keep her from falling during recovery -- she can't even remember she has a broken arm.
And I'm a boomer -- slowing down, not strong-enough to catch Mom, starting to occasionally fall asleep in my chair.
So, I was thinking -- maybe I should go to the nearest fire station, make a donation to their perennial charity, and explain my PV. One reason I've been in favor of spending money on public transit is because I don't want my kids and grandkids on the roads when we Boomers are driving 10-20 years from now. Getting to be 10-15 years from now.... But I just realized....I'd like to be living in an Asbestos building when the boomers start falling asleep with cigarettes in their hands!
Forget pointing out it's healthier! Point out that folks will be hella safer living next door to vapers! We need car magnets (nobody messes up their paint jobs with bumper stickers anymore, my daughter tells me!) T-shirts! (Firefighter coats?)
Incidentally, this puts a whole 'nother complexion on why cities are banning smoking in apartments and condos....and a new urgency on NOT banning vaping in those same places!
What if everybody walked down to their local firehouse and turned in your ashtray? (Sponsor a "cigarette lighter buyback" like the gun buybacks? Tell the press?)
