Hey all! I'm posting as a new member although I'm not. Just haven't posted in a very long time and still trying to figure everything out.

I just purchased a new mod. (Asmodus minikin 155w boost.) It had excellent reviews and I had to choose something as my very old and tired Aspire Nugget decided it had had enough.

So my new mod came and I'm having difficulty setting the temp. It's at 450F and I'm afraid it's WAY TOO HIGH for my coil and maybe my vape tolerance. I just can't figure out how to lower it?

The coils (and tank) I'm using are Nautilus x 1.8ohm and the Nautilus x tank. I've had it since I started vaping 3-4 yrs ago and it fits and looks great on my new mod. :)

The batteries I have currently are 18650 2500mha 3.7v 20amp (two in the mod) and I have the wattage set at 12watt on the mod as my coils are specified at between 12 and 16.

Btw, I'm an x chain tobacco smoker and like to vape similarly to how I used to smoke, except at a far lower nic level, so don't really care to produce massive clouds.

I don't know what other info someone might need to help me out but I'll be checking in frequently for feedback/questions.

Thanks in advance!

Ha! I just looked at my profile. Member since 2013! What! Where did the time go?

So I guess I've been vaping much longer than I thought. At least 5 yrs with a mod and another yr or so with those awful disposable ecigs.

I think because the coils are kanthal- for wattage mode only

1.8 coils are rated for wattage 12- 16 watts.
You would need nickel or SS coils to vape in temp control- the coils you have are not used in Temp Control mode.

The Aspire Nautilus X coils currently come in 1.5ohm (rated at 14-22 watts) and 1.8ohm (rated at 12-16 watts) in packs of five. These coils for the Nautilus X Tank feature the new U-Tech coil technology, which flows vapor through the U-shaped chamber & passes through the Kanthal coil twice before being inhaled. These replacement coils are exclusively designed for the Aspire Nautilus X tank

Dual vertical Clapton coils made of Kanthal

the coil should tell you the wattage level on the side of it- I hope that helps.

Thank you. Yes, my coils are rated for 12-16 watts as I said above. (Have been using them for years.)

My problem is The temp on the mod is set at 450 (too hot) and there is no option for selecting a kanthal wire. Just NI, SS (Variety of SS choices) and TI. (Must select one.)

There are what I believe are coil settings (TCR and TFR) but I haven't a clue as to how to figure mine out or what to search for to find an answer?

You will have to set the Boost in Wattage -Power mode- that is the mode for wattage you will not be able to run that tank with kanthal coils in any Temp control mode. You need to take it out of Temp control mode. You should only see Watts on the screen
There is no kanthal option because you need to set the Boost in Watt mode.
Watt mode is for Kanthal coils.
Here is a You Tube Video on the Asmodus Boost.

You cannot select kanthal, because you need to be in power or wattage mode for Kanthal- you should not be setting any temp settings! It won't work in temp control- should just say 16W not any temp!
5 clicks- get to mode select and select POWER!

Ha ha... never heard that before. "Tootle puffer".

I really like like warm draws and minimal vape clouds so I think that may be one of the issues I run into when communicating with other vapers.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it very much!

A term used for vapers who like a smaller draw- more flavor, cigarette tight draw-MTL
I understand now- It is how I started over 4 years ago- but since sub tanks and RTAs came out- I went that route with DL hits, higher wattage lower nic.
I hope I was able to help. I have the Minikin V1.5 which is similar to the boost and I know I have to set Kanthal on Power mode on that mod!
Here is the Tootle Puffers Thread- you could ask them there, maybe some have and use this tank and coils.

Ok. So I believe It's in power mode now. Can only see watts on the screen.
Since my coils are rated at 12-16, can I go lower than 12, to try to keep it from getting too hot?

Yes, absolutely. The recommended range is recommended, not required. I happen to prefer those coils at 8 - 10 watts. You'll probably need to replace your current coil as it may be burnt. With your new coil, start around 6 watts and gradually work your way up until you find the point that you like best. Wherever it suits you is the correct setting.
