Aspire AVP Cube Kit Brief Description:
Aspire has recently introduced a new design for its AVP line, adopting the Cube shape to increase ergonomics and comfort.
AVP Cube Kit is powered by a built-in 1300mAh battery with C-type fast charging port.
The Chipset Hibrid offers in addition to the By-pass mode, four MTL output powers (10/12/14 / 16W) which can be selected exclusively with the 1.15Ω coil.
The cartridge has a capacity of 3.5ml with a strong magnetic connection.
The air regulation is precise, very suitable for MTL, through the AVP Pro coils you can get a satisfactory vape both in MTL and in restricted DL.

First impressions:

The fears and doubts when analyzing a pod system are those of finding myself faced with "deficiencies" such as; the presence of a non-replaceable drip-tip, a poorly transparent cartridge, or the complete lack of air and power adjustments.

Luckily Aspire proved me wrong! At first glance he has created a simple, robust, economical, aesthetically beautiful kit with superior solutions, Grande Aspire!

I received the Gamet Red specimen from Aspire one of seven solid colors available, the paint is very bright, looks metallic and is very smooth to the touch.

The "cube" form factor is as simple in construction as it is effective in terms of comfort and ergonomics.
The use of materials such as aluminum alloy for the Mod and PCTG for the cartridge make the kit light and robust.

Review:

The four sides of course have the same size and shape.

The "main" side houses a square shaped Fire key with rounded corners, slightly protruding, its surface has a very fine texture.
Towards the bottom there is the writing "Aspire" arranged vertically. * This side has no air holes.

The opposite side has four small airflows at the top, while at the bottom we find the writing Avp-Cube arranged vertically.

The side that houses the USB type-C charging socket includes (at the top) two air-flow holes
The opposite facade instead contains 8 holes for air-flow.

Later I will explain how the Aspire AVP-Cube AFC system works and adjusts.

The bottom of the Aspire AVP-Cube offers good stability in an upright position, contains the C E mark, the disposal logo and four very important vent holes for the 1,300mAh Lipo battery.

The Compartment / Pod has two contact pins on the bottom, in a slightly raised position, fixed with two French screws, there is the metal support for the magnetic attraction of the cartridge.

Cartridge:
The PCTG cartridge maintains the same Cube shape as the Mod, has good transparency and contains up to 3.5ml of liquid, the exceptional magnetic strength translates into a connection stability that is certainly better than most devices, the refill is performs from below.

The 510 drip-tip is replaceable and is provided with two sealing o'ring, on the bottom of the cartridge we can see the large central hole that houses the AVP-Coil, the refil hole is of good size and the two powerful magnets are large and rectangular in shape.

* The arrow indicates the reference point on the pod for adjusting the AFC, above it there is a space carved into the plastic, this allows the passage of air towards the coil.

The AVP-Cube has four air adjustment possibilities.

Each side on the Mod (except the first) contains holes (0-2-4-8), depending on how the spaced is oriented (highlighted with the yellow hatching in the photo below) it will be possible to adjust the air from MTL to Restricted DL.

* The dimensions of the air inlet holes are approximately 0.5mm each.

Coil:
The AVP-Cube works with the classic AVP Pro Coils.

0,65Ω Mesh-Coil (15-18 W)

How the AVP-Cube works:
Five clicks to turn the mod on / off.
* With the 0.65Ω (15-18 W) coil operation is exclusively in By-Pass mode.
* With the 1.15Ω coil the mod can deliver four different power steps, to change the setting you need to make two quick clicks on the Fire button.

1300mAh Li-po Battery:
The remaining battery charge is indicated by the LED inserted under the Fire button:
- 3.8V Green Light, the remaining charge is between 60 and 100%
- 3.5-3.8V Blue Light, the residual charge is between 30 and 60%
- <3.5V Red light, the remaining charge is between 0 and 30%

A full charge cycle takes about 60 minutes.
The battery offers a good vaping autonomy, I managed to vaporize about 6ml of liquid before recharging it.

Vaping test:

1.15Ω standard Kanthal coil (10-16W)

It is adjusted by the chipset, through 2 clicks, you can then choose the power delivered, the red LED corresponds to about 10W, the blue to 12W, the green to 14W, the white to 16W, these power steps can be combined with four different ones degrees of opening of the air-flow; 0 holes, 2 holes, 4 holes, 8 holes.

With all the air-flows closed (0 holes) the puff is very constricted, a very dry and clear suction stop is reached after a short suction, with relative smack of the lips!
This will greatly please MTL vape purists I'm sure. Contrary to what one might think there are no operating irregularities or condensation formations, not even with such a low air ratio. The coil seems to have been created specifically for this use, fantastic!

Of course I also tested this coil with larger AFC openings and with higher wattages, but the impression is that with this coil you always remain in the MTL vape, even at 16W with 8 open holes.

Using the AVP-Cube with this coil, the setting was found to be optimal for a real MTL vape, the operation is truly flawless, fluid and regular, the steam emitted always remains at more than acceptable temperatures. The aromatic yield satisfied me fully.

0,65Ω Mesh-Coil (15-18 W)

According to Aspire, this coil should offer a Resctricted Flavor vape.
In this case, the Mesh coil works only in By-pass mode, the user's only concern will therefore be to adjust the AFC according to their needs.

Its reactivity to fire is remarkable, the steam takes on higher temperatures than the previous one, so it does not seem suitable for 0 and 2 hole adjustments. Even using 4 holes an optimal yield is not obtained, the steam emitted is quite hot and of limited quantity.

Things improve dramatically by switching to the 8-hole configuration. With this configuration we can talk about a very contrasted DL vape. The Mesh coil works fine, but it probably needs a further adjustment of the AFC even more open.

Final remarks:

Aspire, as we have seen, has prepared two types of coils for the AVP PRO, these are also compatible with the new AVP-Cube subject of this test.

Aspire claims to "thus embrace both types of MTL and DL vaping. As often happens during the tests of the various devices, it is easy to come across projects that fail to offer a quality vape in MTL mode, but this is not the case, indeed it is the opposite, an excellent device in MTL, slightly lacking in air for the restricted DL vape.

The Aspire AVP-Cube, finally I will be able to recommend it to all those looking for a "real" Mtl vape! This was my first thought during the test and also my last.
