Hello, I've been using this tank for about a month and have done a lot of reading about the Nautlius on these forums and have a question.
The general opinions here suggest that the highest wattage setting is about 7 watts
My question is on the atomizers and on the aspire web site it states that on a 1.8 coil voltage should range between 3.3 and 6 volts
Now I don't vape at anywhere near 6 volts I'm at about 3.8 volts which is 8 watts
So a 1.8 coil at 6 volts is according to my calculation 20 watts
So I guess why is the general recommendation around 7 watts?
Hope someone can clear this up for me
By the way using provari 2.5
Thanks all and sorry for the long post

Most factory coils can only handle around 7 watts. A lot of manufacturers choke their wick when the wrap the coil, so any more and you're going to get inadequate juice flow to the coil causing burnt/dry hits if you take longer hits or chain vape. Ofcorse, this all varies from coil to coil... You might have one that can keep up at 20 watts; You might have one with a choked wick and hotspots that can't handle 2 watts without shorting out. This is part of the reason I wrap my own coils... QC on factory coils are pretty bad.

Also, you have to remember that aspire nautilus heads are dual coil... So that 1.8Ω atty actually houses 2x 3.6Ω coils. It's going to be able to take a 'lil more power than a 1.8Ω single coil before you get the dry hits.

I've been able to go to 15 watts on my Nautilus. I'm guessing they recommend a lower wattage in case someone puts in some High VG juice in it which is really best used in drippers. The quality of the vape is a ratio of juice flow and wattage not just wattage. Plus I can tell you that companies etc always ere on the side of caution. One other factor just occurred to me if the tank is low it may heat up more. I have gone as high as 19 watts but not for long as the wattage out ran the juice flow. That is with stock heads. When i rebuilt with cotton wicks I could go higher but i also drilled out the feed holes some and replaced that little piece of fabric inside with SS mesh.
