Are you properly priming the heads before use?
What power level are you using?
After you burn the wicking material nothing will fix the burnt taste until you prime & install a new head, the burnt taste can also taint the liquid in the tank.
I have yet to get the Triton, but on the Atlantis if you loosen the base back and forth it helps the juice wick.
I believe someone on these forums refered to it as burping the tank.
Works wonders on the Atlantis v1 & v2.
BTW, I never quite tighten the base all the way.
You already got the answer, but did that tank not come with the little card that says to? I know most tanks I have, include one.
5 drops or so in the inside of the coil and some juice in the juice flow holes helps a lot. Then let it sit for 5-10 minutes and you should be fine. You should be able to see juice bubbles come up after filling the tank to know it's wicking. I've never used the triton though.

With the Triton, the wick holes on the coil is hidden inside the chimney and may not necessarily line up with the juice flow holes in the chimney. Also, you want to obviously switch the top over from the "fill mode" to the "vape mode" to open up the juice flow holes in the chimney.
