Might be worth saying that the initial 'public beta' batch is sold out to avoid any disappointment. Looking forward to seeing reviews appearing. This is a cool project!
I received the wave today. I watched all the videos carefully and read all the literature. I have tried to build it 3 times, all unsuccessfully. I give up.
I'm going to attempt the horizontal build when I get home later. Looks to be a lot easier than the vertical build.
The vertical build does look like a challenge plus it looks like you'll need to re coil every time you want to switch out the cotton.
I haven't tried the vertical build but just looking at the video makes me want to try the horizontal build first. It looks very "fiddly"
I'm sorry, but this thing looks ridiculous. As if it's complicated for the sole sake of being complicated. I stopped watching the soundless video (the builder was probably cussing) after 4 minutes. Good luck, fellas.
Yes, to be honest, my first thought was, "I don't think I'm bored enough to want to build this."

I think I see what they were going for with this--finding a method that will basically force the kind of consistent usage experience you get with prebuilt coils. I just think the method they found to force that consistency is finnicky and elaborate.
The product page doesn't really say anything at all of substance or describe what it does differently beyond saying its different in as many words as possible. They could really use some better marketing!

My horizontal builds failed miserably, which was a total slap in the face, having been vaping for 6 years...and knowing how to build most anything, vaping related or not.
The vertical build has been just OK...until I ramped up the wattage on my P3...
I took my 1.2ohm coil from 10w to 12w...and WOW did that make a difference. Then I realized I had been using the wrong juice, cuz as we all know, some flavors just don't perform in tanks. I used this flavor because I know how it SHOULD taste, and figured it would be a good benchmark for testing this new device.
I've already requested more detail on the horizontal build, so we will see what happens.
All I can say is, I wasn't thrilled with this device, until I changed MY habits of running at 10w...so it's definitely got me excited again.
For those of you who have a beta/tester/demo Wave device, try mixing up your wattage/voltage settings...it seems as though this one has a different "sweet spot" than what you may be used to! Remember, it IS a totally new device.
P.S. I was able to build the vertical style unassisted, on my second go at it...so keep practicing!

In the case of the WAVE, I realize I may be coming off as unreasonably optimistic. I'd like to assure you all that I'm just trying my best to stay neutral.
While I seem to have the vertical set-up dialed in, the horizontal build continues to be total garbage.
Having found a juice that would perform for me, and a power level that seems to suit the WAVE mo' bettah, I decided to tear down a working vert-coil, and try my hand at the horizontal style again...
(To break things up, I decided to tear down and rebuild a couple of Kayfuns in between, so I could make sure to clear my mind of previous horizontal WAVE failures.)
So, as I finished up the build, done as closely to the video as I could do, I dripped a little juice on the wick...and plugged it in. Took a few primer puffs, and...
DRY HIT LIKE ALWAYS.
In the trash it goes. Whip up a new vertical build, and plug it in...BOOM. Delicious flavor, decent vapor, zero throat hit ([emoji12]I stepped down to 0mg almost 2yrs ago, so I never have throat hit to worry about anymore. This also handicaps me in the flavor department a bit too, as I'm sure most of you know or have heard that 0mg has less flavor than the same juice with nicotine in it.)
The jury is still out, but I am definitely taking notes for the feedback form.
Anxiously awaiting the reviews from Phil, Grim, and hopefully that German Navy-Lifeguard guy...(even though I don't speak a lick of German, his videos are usually helpful, with his tone of voice being clear enough for me on what's good or bad.)

I am curious enough to watch navy l. when he comes up with a video so I can help you to interpret his tone ;-) , just tell me if a video is up. Maybe he chooses to speak English this time (he did it previously).

While just looking at it to get an impression (and not doing it instead) - why do you think it is complicated or difficult? Different, it is. I imagine they aimed at optimal/exact/well-balanced contact between wire and cotton?
Wind the wire around the cotton with the help of that small pipe or tube instead of stuffing the cotton into the coil - I suppose one has to experiment with the right amount of cotton, but this used to be the case with stuffing as well, at the beginning - but other than that, why is it complicated?
(But maybe people who are used to Sophia's tiny dimensions are more resilient when it comes to fiddling with tinyness ?)
