Hi guys, my EHPro Atomic rda came in yesterday and it's a beauty, but I have no experience building RDAs and only know how to build a kayfun. I had trouble last night building it and want to know if there's an obvious step that I'm missing because I fired it up and the coils were glowing nice and red the first fire, but I believe there was a short because on the second fire, one of the tails connected to the post sparked up and burnt off which obviously ruined the build.

1. I loosened the screws on the three posts until the holes below were accessible.

2. I wrapped 26g kanthal 8 times around a small screwdriver and inserted the tails into the post holes and out the other side.

3. I proceeded to tighten the screws onto the kanthal and pushed my coil upwards so it wouldn't touch the deck or the posts themselves.

4. I cut off the tails from the other side.

From there I proceeded to fire off the device.

Is there any step I'm missing? Is there a certain drill bit or wrap number to get between the ranges of .4 to .8ohms?

Waffles, what did the coil measure out as?

It appears in your list that you made the coil correctly. Maybe just a short at first. When you are firing it up at first make sure you are pulsing the coil and not just holding the fire button down. Holding the button down too long can pop a shorted coil stat.

I like to position my coil to be as close to the air holes as possible to reduce throat hit and increase flavor.

Make sure you don't leave the drill bit in the coil when you fire the device. I am not suggesting you did, but I only say this because I have done it a few times! This will obviously short the coil...

You also want to make sure you're not squeezing the coil(s) with tweezers while you're firing the device (I have done this too!! )
