Atomic (RM4) gets a thumbs up finally.

Still playing around with the Atomic I got from Catfish, trying different builds and joose in it. Latest has been the best yet for one of my coffee liquids. I took a .35 dual build off and wrapped a 2 gauge parallel for it in the wee hours this morning... 29x27 @ 2.5mm, 6 wraps for .55 ohms, with KGD wick. That's my sweet spot for this particular joose. I am getting massive flavor rich vapor with a wide bore DT, but do have to squonk after 3 hits with my very long DLH's that drain the wick all the way from saturated to dry. Have it on Fools Gold, one of my Reos that hasn't been used much since I bought it last April 1st. Kind of tall and unsightly to my eye, but it's nice to get this Reo in service. So after playing around with it I am liking this atty enough that it'll stay in service now instead of just collecting dust like it had been for about 11 months.

It definitely has an 'old school' look. But I still have a couple of them in occasional use. They do require frequent squonking.

It can be a funny thing, vaping. I find myself cycling through atties and setups, rediscovering older gear with new enthusiasm (why, this cyclone is the bee's knees, I thought to myself just last week).

A short while ago, you and I both happened to pick up the atomic again. I'm glad you finally got to a happy place with it, and I might just try this build. I've not built a mixed gauge parallel (twisted or tiger, yes, but straight parallel, no).

I love the RM4 Atomic but call mine Chernobyl because it leaks. I had the most ferocious dry hit of my vape life with mine for fear of over squonking. When it works, it works very well if I do my part. But I vow to never travel with one. If it gets hot in the car it drools. It's a great LazyBoy atty!

I have 2 Atomics. The first is an RM4, which I got from Rob. The other is one I got from another supplier. The problem I had with the RM4 was that it didn't drain particularly well, because of the single drain hole. The solution was to push out the center post (a bit of a chore in itself), and drill through the drain hole, to create a second hole, 180 degrees from the first. It made a huge difference, both in squonking and draining.

Have found that the drip-tip makes a huge difference, tried the supplied drip-tip which I jocularly referred to as a 'drain-pipe' and wasn't greatly impressed. Changed it out for a taifun-GT style and much improved.
Running 2x 1.6mmID 1.4Ω TMC's for net 0.7Ω with 29awg Kanthal with Shiseido wicks

Yeah, I don't like metal drip tips, in general; but the stock Atomic tip is especially bad.

I forget what drip tip mine came with but I like these tips I got from Synervape on ebay. It's a friction fit and WIDE open. This is my RM4 with an afc ring from an original dripper.

Papa - For the most part when anything in my life gets relegated to the bone yard it is not revisited again unless it's to unceremoniously make it not be a part of my life anymore. Until then it is forgotten stuff that I don't have to deal with, a big plus when you have acquired way too much stuff.

Reminds me of a bit done by the late great George Carlin back in the 80's. A routine that really hits home when it makes me wonder why the H did I ever buy all this stuff. Or worse yet that I actually pay for places to store stuff I have not used (or even seen) for years. At one time stuff from important hobbies in my life, not anymore.

JV, Rule, Scout - As I said before my Atomic from CF does have dual squonk/drain ports... does both ops just fine. As for the Atomic DT, like others from CloneLand in the Far East I have 2 of them somehow and don't use either. I don't remember where the wide bore DT I am using on the Atomic right now came from, but like the second "Atomic" DT I assume with one of the many atty's I don't use.

About the only materials I use, these days, for drip tips is either acrylic, tru stone, or Pyrex. I have a couple boxes full of various delrin, ss, and brass, I never use. Lately, I've been looking around at wood ones, if I could find some to match some of my Woodvils.

I just put an RM2 with twisted wire back on my copper vein. Love, the second time around,...
