So I use an iTaste vv3 battery that has an ohm meter in it and today i noticed that when I checked my ohm level in my 2.2ohm atty that it was reading 2.6 and went down after a couple hits. I haven't seen it really go below 2.4 though today. Normally these have been running at 2.2 or 2.3 but this one seems to be jumping around. Is this a sign that the atty is going bad? I just started vaping about a month and a half ago and I haven't had one go bad yet so I'm not sure what the signs are. I got 7 atty's when i got my set up and i change them with each flavor and normally I change flavors everyday looking for one i like the most. I've been waiting for one to go bad so I can rebuild it with cotton so I'm kind of hoping this one is starting to :)

You didn't say which atomizer you're using but if it's made by Kanger then what you've described is entirely possible. Some stock atty's have been known to be a "dud" right out of the box. So, if the ohms are fluctuating frequently and more than +/- .2 then there could possibly be a short in the coil. If you want to try rebuilding it, I say go for it. There are lots of YouTube videos out there that can help.

The attys and heads you buy are made by machine and go through an unknown QA process. A slip is not unheard of. Most coils will drop a little when you first use them but then they stay the same.

When I was starting out and got one that was suspect I just tossed it and when I got into rebuilding I only rebuilt stuff that was meant for rebuilding.

The atomizer I have is kanger. I just switched flavors and atomizers and this one seems to be staying at 2.4 which seems to be right on with the others in the pack.

I thought at first it might be my battery because one night a few weeks ago I was sitting around vaping and all of a sudden the flavor got really burnt tasting and nasty so I thought the atty went bad and changed it and when I put a new one in I always check my volts/watts and I noticed it somehow had gotten turned all the way up to like 10watts. I turned it back down and it has never done that again. This atty seems to be staying consistent so I kind of ruled out it being the battery. I'm glad it wasn't that because I don't have a back up battery yet and really don't want to get stuck without my ecig. I immediately went from a PAD analogs to one a day and don't want to go backwards :)

the connection from the coil wire are just compression contacted between metal and rubber grommet; so when a bit of corrosion builds up over time it shows as increased resistance.

you don't have to wait for the coil to fail before rewicking with cotton; once you see the wick starting to look disheveled, time to pick at the wick with a tweezers and it will come apart then rewick with cotton.

I don't know if its the atties or the itaste vv3 that's sensitive but I've seen the same thing with every atty I use. Sometimes you take a reading, pull the atty out enough to turn slightly and the reading will change. When the atty is dry it reads one thing but filled with juice another... flooded another yet... also juice on the battery post will change the reading and, of course, gunk on the atty will... I blow through the atty air shaft when my reading changes to one I don't like and that will bring it back. Sometimes I just change the watts to conform with however the reading changed.

looks like it might get messy with all that cotton hanging out :)

The problem with the VV V3 and the MVP is that the center pin is a little low, and many attys just don't make good contact with it. I use a 510->ego adapter on them whenever I have a problem with the resistance not being what I expect (actually, I use an adapter on them almost all the time!)

Having said that, the MVP and the VV V3 are my all-time favorite PV's (and I own a vamo and a bunch of mech mods and eGo batts. No provari or reo, though!)

?
The purpose of the pic is to demonstrate to new users, how to easily thread the cotton through the coil; you don't leave all the extra stuff hanging out afterwards; you just cut it off.

You twist one end of a long piece of cotton and the reason you twist it is to get it to thread through the coil; once you get it through the coil you can pull uncompressed cotton into the coil.
After that you clip the ends off; maybe adding a 'flavor' wick on top, but actually the real practical advantage of adding the top wick is not so much a matter of flavor, but a matter of keeping the spire from contacting the coil when you put the spire on the top.

That picture is on the page I have bookmarked on rebuilding the kanger atty. How do you know if you put to much or to little cotton in it? Is there a way to tell when you pull? Mine hits pretty smooth right now but I think the airflow control valve is helping that a lot

I guess basically you learn from experience how much cotton to put; for people who vape with a similar pattern to smoking, more cotton should work compared to a chain vaper I think.
